Who is Lady Mary Sharma in Bridgerton season 2?
Whilst she is no stranger to life in London, Lady Mary has spent most of the past years living in India. With her marriage to a clerk who already had a daughter causing quite the stir, Lady Mary is more than aware of what scandal can do to an individual. Now, with her husband dead, Lady Mary returns to London with her two daughters where she, once again, becomes part of scrutiny all over again. And, as a love triangle involving Kate, Edwina, and Anthony, threatens to destroy the bond of her two daughters, Lady Mary can only stand by and watch.
What does Lady Mary Sharma do? (spoilers)
Whilst Lady Mary herself doesn’t do all that much in the second season of Bridgerton, she is a key figure throughout all of the season’s drama. In the first episode of Bridgerton season 2, Lady Mary arrives in London with her daughters, Kate and Edwina. Although, what Lady Mary keeps from Edwina, is that Lady Mary is running low on income. And, in what could be a saviour to the family, Edwina has a trust fund from her grandparents, the Sheffields. Although, Lady Mary keeps the trust fund a secret as it has a cause that the family will only receive it if Edwina marries a noble Englishman.
During their stay in London, Lady Mary watches as Edwina forms a relationship with Anthony Bridgerton. When news of the engagement reaches the Sheffields, Lady Mary dreads their arrival. And for good reason. During dinner, the Sheffields are very hostile and make several remarks towards the family. Ultimately, the Sheffields are uninvited to the wedding, and the trust fund disappears with them. However, that’s not the Sharma’s biggest problem. With the love triangle coming to its peak, Edwina refuses to marry Anthony. So, in return, the Sharma family, and Lady Mary, are embroiled in large levels of scandal, yet again. However, thankfully for Lady Mary, the story has a happy ending. With Edwina’s blessing, Kate and Anthony get married. And due to the marriage, Lady Mary no longer has to worry about her family’s financial situation.
