Netflix’s Monday-Tuesday workplace rom-com k-drama Business Proposal is due to end on April 5, 2022, after twelve well-received episodes. I’m mixed on the show ahead of its penultimate double-bill, but it’s impossible to deny that it has really found an enthusiastic audience. With Business Proposal dominating the midweek k-drama conversation, it’s certainly worth speculating about the show’s future, particularly regarding its potential renewal for the streaming giant. With that in mind, will there be a Business Proposal Season 2?

Renewed or cancelled status – Will there be a Business Proposal Season 2?

Status: TBC

As of right now there hasn’t been any official word of a renewal, however, things are looking promising for fans. The premise isn’t a one-and-done affair like, say, Thirty-Nine, Netflix doesn’t tend to announce renewals while the present season is still airing, and the season thus far has been exceptionally well received. Looking at Netflix Top 10’s Non-English TV category, Business Proposal is dominating the top of the table with 23,480,000 hours viewed. This is an extremely promising sign.

Word of mouth is also a powerful thing, and since fans of the show aren’t just enjoying it but are actively sharing that enjoyment on social media, the show’s impact among the fandom and culture is obvious. Netflix likes that sort of thing.

What is Business Proposal?

Here’s an overview taken from my own review:

Kang Tae-moo (Ahn Hyo-seop) is a company CEO whose Chairman grandfather gives him an assignment to find himself a wife and some happiness instead of just working all the time. Tae-moo, a lanky, handsome man who has spent time studying abroad and takes management of the company incredibly serious, doesn’t think he has time in his life for romance until he finally relents and goes on a blind date with who he believes is the well-to-do Jin Young-seo (Seol In-ah). After just that one date, he decides he wants to marry her.

But the hook is that Young-seo actually sent her friend Shin Ha-ri (Kim Se-jeong) in her place, and Ha-ri works for Tae-moo’s company.

What do we know about the second season so far?

Little is known about a second season thus far. One imagines that the outcome of the first season’s finale will heavily determine which direction a potential continuation might head in, but it stands to reason that the story would continue to revolve around Tae-moo and Ha-ri. We’ll be sure to update this page with more information as and when we receive it.
