I think it’s fair to say that Tomorrow has had a rough start, with a wildly fluctuating tone really conspiring to undermine it at every turn. However, its latest double-bill of episodes, and today’s in particular, helped to show some promise in the worldbuilding and character development that, hopefully, Tomorrow season 1, episodes 5 & 6 will be able to capitalize on. It’s still early days yet, and while things could go either way, a better sense of focus and coherence in the latest outings at least suggests that things might be moving in the right direction. From my latest recap:

The back half of this episode tightens things up a little. There’s more of a focus on Ryeon and also the relative seriousness of the relationship between Na-young and Woo-jin, and the show’s better when it’s like this. The goofy slapstick nonsense is still there, for what it’s worth, but here for the first time the stronger elements seem to be the overpowering ones, and I found both the lore and the current case to be compelling. The latter is even helped along by a last-minute twist suggesting murder, which is a promising note to end on.
