Summary

A nice little mystery that sets itself apart from the other episodes. Whilst it may be clear who the killer is as soon as they appear on screen, the episode is still enjoyable enough to watch.

Roar season 1, episode 6 recap

After a murder victim named Rebecca Moss is found, two detectives, Chris Durst and Bobby Bronson, lead the case. As they do so, they see the ghost of Rebecca. Of course, no one else can see or hear her. And much like those in charge of the investigation, Rebecca has no idea as to who killed her. And more frustrating for her is the fact that she can’t help the detectives, at least not physically.

With her corpse in a bunny outfit, Rebecca is helpless as she tries to inform the officers that she wasn’t wearing that outfit when she died. As the detectives seem more interested in coffee, Rebecca decides that she needs to find her Whoopi Goldberg. But she struggles to find anyone she can communicate with. After the officers go to her flat, which they call a dump, Rebecca makes excuses for the mess by saying she’s going through a break-up. This is when it dawns on Rebecca that her ex-boyfriend, Todd, must have killed her.

The detective visits her best friend Christina, who babysits her brother Chad. Christina blames herself as she was the one who told Rebecca to go and get some fresh air. As Rebecca manages to make lights flicker, she tries, desperately, to communicate with Christina and the two detectives. As Rebecca listens to every word, Christina reveals that other girls were usually jealous of Rebecca as she usually got what she wanted, talked about herself, and didn’t seem to be the greatest friend. However, Christina eventually leads the detectives toward Todd.

The Ending

Whilst Todd is guilty of cheating on Rebecca, he didn’t kill her and has a tight alibi to prove so. As Rebecca’s anger increases, she is able to physically push Todd, which leads to a fight between him and Detective Bronson. Rebecca follows Bronson to his ex-wife’s place, who, apparently, looks a lot like Rebecca. Afterward, Rebecca spots a photo of her with Christina. And in the photo is a piece of rope that is linked to her death.

And so, Rebecca believes that she has solved her murder. After she haunts Christina, it becomes clear that it wasn’t Christina who killed her. Instead, it was Chad. As a result, Rebecca collects enough evidence that proves that Chad killed her and leaves it at the police station. Once the evidence gets found, Rebecca goes into the afterlife. Whilst it would have been nice to have seen Chad get arrested, or even see more of his character as a whole, the fact Rebecca solves her own death should be enough to keep audiences fulfilled.
