Episode five of Halo, “Reckoning,” opens with Dr. Halsey and Dr. Jacob Keyes visiting Eridanus II’s Reach for Life Installation. They appear to be pretending to be a couple to look at the planet’s school. Also, see the children, and they observe John, a young Master Chief, saving a bully’s life by pulling him up with one arm. Keep in mind, at this point. Master Chief is around only ten years of age. Back in the present day, when Master Chief touches the Eridanus artifact, he flashes back to when Dr. Halsey kidnapped him. The end of the episode has the Covenant invading the planet and stealing back the relic. They left a homecoming gift, however. Makee sends herself down, we assume, to try the same thing she did with that UNSC shift the prior episode, pretending to be an escaped hostage.
- Even though it has been reasonably muddled, it has become evident the series will follow the storyline of Miranda Keyes, the daughter of Dr. Jacob Keyes and Dr. Halsey. When Master Chief approached Dr. Jacob Keyes about remembering Dr. Halsey was in his home as a child, he had no idea his former commander was part of the conspiracy. This causes him to panic and pulls his daughter, Miranda, from the Eridanus artifact project. After effectively blackmailing the UNSC leaders, Dr. Halsey told Jacob, “Finally, we can agree upon a parenting issue,” Dr. Halsey replied.
- The Covenant and Makee found the artifact when it sent wave energy after the UNSC staff pierced its protective shield. Makee felt the released energy and determined where it could have been hidden.
- Kai could not focus on her mission after taking out the hormonal pellet. The Master Chief abandoned his mission to save Kai. This allowed the Covenant to take the artifact and escape with it.
- Soren and Kwan Ha are still on Madrigal and stuck in Halo purgatory. Their bike breaks down on their way to grab a ship back to the rubble. Soren leaves Kwan Ha handcuffed to the vehicle. When she unlocks herself, she hides under the sand. When Soren returns, he zaps him, passing out on the bike.
- Cortana can activate and deactivate Master Chief by shutting down his neural bridge.

Predictions
Let’s explore what may happen next week!
- Master Chief and the UNSC will take in Makee. Something tells me that they won’t fall for her tricks as that ill-fated ship did. But what could Makee be up to? Look for Makee to steal the Madrigal artifact to complete the set.
- There have to be consequences for Master Chief and Kai’s actions after disobeying orders. For that matter. Dr. Halsey blackmailed the UNSC leadership, including the ruthless Admiral Parangosky. Expect retribution from all three, but with the Covenant now in control, how much punishment is the UNSC willing to hand out?
- The Kwan Ha and Soren storyline is becoming increasingly frustrating. Will things begin to heat up? Will Kwan Ha and Soren finally join the resistance? It appears to be a slow walk, but both will fight for their freedom. Why? Because this may be the only way for Soren to get back home.
