The soapy twists are truly making Now and Then a wild watch. It’s thrilling, it has decent characters, and it has a story worthy of our time. Here is what happened in the fifth episode:

  • Flora gets suspended for illegally bugging Marcos’ house.
  • And Belinda comes to realise that Flora is obsessed with the case.
  • Pedro refuses to throw Ernesto under the bus, which causes tension between him and Ana.
  • We learn that in “Then”, Jessica died by accidentally leaning into the metal shard rather than being pushed into it.
  • We also learn that Ana visited Daniela shortly before she was murdered.

Of course, there was a lot to unpack in the first three episodes of Now and Then. And therefore, there are many paths that the show could go. Here are a few predictions:

  • As Now and Then didn’t show Ana killing Daniela, I’m going to lean towards predicting that Ana is now the one who killed her. But as saw a ruthless side to Ana in the last couple of episodes, maybe it’s not so crazy to predict that she is the one responsible for Daniela’s death.
  • However, completely contradicting myself, I don’t think it’s certain who the killer is. Going on the theory that the killer is one of the main friends (Pedro, Ana, Marcos, and Sofia), I think it could be any of them except Sofia. Sofia feels too obvious at the moment. And whilst Marcos seems to be in a state over his failed marriage, is he actually drinking over the guilt of killing Daniela?
  • Last week I incorrectly predicted that Pedro was Jessica’s killer. And whilst his actions led to her death, he didn’t purposely or directly kill her. However, his involvement in Jessica’s death makes me wonder whether the writers will shy away from having him involved in Daniela’s death. So I will predict that Pedro definitely did not kill Daniela.
  • I predict that when Flora visits Hugo, she’ll learn (and believe) that he is not the one responsible for killing Daniela. And I think that he’ll have some information that’ll continue Flora’s fuel to solve the case.
  • And for now, I can’t see any of the main cast (Flora, Marcos, Pedro, Ana, and Sofia) getting killed off, so I’ll predict that all of them will make it into the finale.
  • As the episode is titled “Elections”, Pedro’s case will play a big part. And if there’s a result in the next episode, I think that he’ll win. (But only so that when his world collapses in the season finale, it’ll be more dramatic).
  • Sofia getting blackmailed by Bernie seems more of a background plot at the moment, so likely that it’ll have a larger presence in the next two episodes. Maybe it will explore more of the life that Sofia has lived following that deadly car crash?
