This article discusses whether there will be a season 2 of the K-Drama series Why Her? and its renewed or cancelled status.
What was season 1 all about?
Who doesn’t love a Korean legal drama (remember Netflix’s Law School)? Why Her? brings in lead actress Seo Hyun-jin (You Are My Spring) as the character Oh Soo-jae, a lawyer who becomes the youngest partner at a law firm. After a strange and unexpected incident during a case, the character is demoted and becomes a professor at a law school. And then, there’s a romantic twist, as the infamous lawyer meets student Gong Chan (Hwang In-yeop of The Sound of Magic), who falls in love with her.
Why Her? replaced the highly popular drama Again My Life in the SBS network schedule, so there was a lot of pressure for it to win over the viewers.
Here is the main cast:
- Seo Hyun-jin as Oh Soo-jae.
- Hwang In-youp as Gong Chan.
- Lee Eugene as young Gong Chan / Kim Dong-goo.
- Huh Joon-ho as Choi Tae-kook.
- Bae In-hyuk as Choi Yoon-sang.
Will there be a season 2 of the K-Drama series Why Her? – renewed or cancelled status
Status: not renewed/ TBC
As we write this article, Why Her? has not been renewed for a second season. However, it’s not unusual for the industry to wait until they make a decision on renewal. As we know, most K-Dramas tend to enjoy a single-season story and wrap things up conclusively by the finale. So once we have seen the conclusion, we’ll be able to sense what the writers have in mind. However, that doesn’t mean it will not be renewed. While the K-Drama industry tends to enjoy single-season stories, the trend of second and third seasons has increased in the last 12 months.
What about ratings?
Interestingly, Why Her? has enjoyed a rating war with another K-Drama series, Doctor Lawyer. Not only has Why Her? won the rating war convincingly, but it has remained top spot for weeks. This could be a good indication for the team behind the series to renew in the future. We’ll keep you posted.
