This article is a preview for Extraordinary Attorney Woo season 1, episodes 7 & 8, and may contain spoilers for previous episodes.
Netflix’s latest k-drama offering is Extraordinary Attorney Woo, a charming dramedy about a young woman with an autism spectrum disorder joining a big law firm and facing a fair helping of irrational prejudice alongside her legal cases.
The latest two episodes delivered another couple of strong cases while also fleshing out some of Young-woo’s personality, hinting at her backstory, and furthering her relationships within the law office. Here’s where we’re at.
Episode 5: “This is much more interesting than the details. Stuff like Jun-ho overhearing Min-woo slagging Young-woo off and roughing him up on the basketball court is great, charming characterization. And Young-woo having someone who understands her and who she can open up to means that we get to learn more about how her brain functions through their conversations. The important matter here is the difficulties she has detecting deception, building towards a fairly obvious but nonetheless necessary revelation that the firm Young-woo is representing are the ones at fault.”
Episode 6: “Another solid episode of Extraordinary Attorney Woo rounds out the show’s third weekend, and its popularity shows no sign of abating just yet. Of course, it hasn’t been given any to, since each episode has built nicely on the last, not necessarily in terms of plot specifics but certainly amongst the core cast and their developing dynamics. While the cases themselves are interesting, I’d imagine it’s this attention to characterization that will keep people coming back.”
