This article discusses the potential of Roswell, New Mexico Season 5 and its renewed or canceled status.
To be honest, I’m surprised that Roswell, New Mexico managed to make it to a fourth season. A reboot of the 1999 series that was itself adapted from the Roswell High books, the show didn’t exactly set the world alight when it debuted in a new, slightly retconned form on The CW. Then again, though, The CW is the place where shows go to never die, so the story holding together for even four seasons was somewhat expected, even despite dwindling ratings and a middling reception among both critics and audiences.
As for the show’s future beyond that, well, here’s everything we know.
Renewed or Cancelled status – Will there be a Roswell, New Mexico Season 5?
In an usual move, Roswell, New Mexico was officially cancelled before the fourth season even aired.
As I implied above, though, this is hardly a surprise. The ratings simply weren’t there, and with the CW in the midst of a sale, it’s clearly paring down a lot of its slate, which it has historically kept alive well beyond the point of decay. While fans may be disappointed, in some ways it’s probably a good thing, as the young cast will be freed up to move onto new ventures. While there’s a remote chance that the show might be picked up for renewal elsewhere, it’s unlikely — what remains of the viewership don’t seem passionate or vocal enough to make that happen, especially since it seems they don’t have the numbers for it.
For all intents and purposes, folks, we’ve seen the last of Roswell, New Mexico — or at least of this version of it. Maybe in another twenty years.
