This article is about the new anime coming to Netflix in September 2022. It is subject to change.

While September is a comparatively light month on the k-drama front, the same cannot be said for the Big N’s anime offerings. It’s not just a busy month in general but also one with some obvious heavy-hitters in terms of recognizable IPs and crossover appeal. Let’s take a look at what we’re dealing with.

New anime coming to Netflix in September 2022

B*****d!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- Part 2 (episodes 13-24)

Release date: September 15

The second half of Netflix’s adaptation of the edgy manga is due to continue in September with the second half of the first season. Our negative review of Part 1 was not well received, to put things mildly, but the show’s target audience seemed to like it, so hopefully this second batch of episodes will be as enthusiastically received. From IMDb:

When evil forces threaten to resurrect Anthrasax, the God of Destruction, the Kingdom of Meta-llicana calls on a volatile dark wizard for help.

Drifting Home

Release date: September 16

This gorgeous-looking anime film from Hiroyasu Ishida and the studio behind A Whisker Away looks to be a visual treat, if nothing else. From IMDb:

Follows two childhood friends who drift into a mysterious sea with an entire housing complex.

Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles

Release date: September 23

This four-part special was originally released in Japan as a promotional tie-in for Pokémon Legends: Arceus on the Nintendo Switch. The ginormous universal appeal of the IP is virtually guaranteed to make this one a hit. Ash and Pikachu battle to save Sinnoh after heading to Mount Coronet following a mysterious message from Mythical Pokémon Arceus.

Cyberpunk: Edge-runners

Release date: September (no confirmed day just yet)

On the subject of recognizable IP, this tie-in with CD Projekt Red’s calamitously-received Cyberpunk 2077 will hopefully have a smoother launch than its source material. Developed by Studio Trigger, the ten-part anime series will explore the fascinating setting of the game — hopefully to enjoyable effect. From IMDb:

A Street Kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an Edgerunner a Mercenary outlaw also known as a Cyberpunk.

That’s all the new anime coming to Netflix in September 2022. You can check out all of these offerings with a subscription to the platform.
