Renewed or canceled status – Will there be a Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist Season 2?

Status: TBC

At the time of writing, there hasn’t been any official confirmation of whether the show will be renewed for a second season. It currently occupies the prime Monday and Tuesday 22:30 time slot on tvN which was previously occupied by Link: Eat, Love, Kill, so visibility and word of mouth around the drama has been consistently solid.

In terms of viewership, the show has consistently commanded the highest nationwide audience share, and despite that share peaking around the fifth episode, it has held on very consistently since then and remains strong and stable heading into the final week.

Critically, Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist has also performed well, with a score of 8.0 on IMDb and 7.9 on MyDramaList. In short, people like this show, and have continued to like it across its run, seemingly becoming more invested in it as we approach an ending.

While renewals remain relatively rare in the k-drama world, if you’re going to see one, it’ll be for a show with these kinds of metrics and this kind of reception. Fans can cross their fingers here.
