This article discusses the Disney+ documentary series Super/Natural, including the premise, release date, and trailer.

If you think you know nature, think again. Award-winning producer/director James Cameron is here to take our national geographic documentaries to a whole new level. What did he find when he was filming Avatar 2?

There are a lot of documentaries about our wonderful planet, with many showcasing our world’s vast landscapes, wondrous wildlife and deepest, darkest corners of our oceans. With jaw-dropping cinematography, our eyes and imaginations are always captivated, and we’re left in awe of this planet we’re lucky enough to call home. How long do we have? With the ever-growing fears surrounding global warming, there has been a surge in documentaries hopefully inspiring people to take action and help save the planet before it’s too late.

A technique they’re using to attract more audiences is by using more celebrities taking on the narration. This includes award winning actress Helena Bonham-Carter to Former President Barack Obama. In this documentary, we have the Marvel and Sherlock Star Benedict Cumberbatch narrating and hopefully his soothing voice has a deep impact, rather than lulling us to sleep.

Disney+ documentary series Super/Natural release date

Super/Natural is set to release on Wednesday September 21st, 2022, on Disney+ .

Super/Natural premise

Executive-produced by James Cameron and narrated by Academy Award®-nominated and BAFTA Award-winning actor Benedict Cumberbatch (“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” “Power of the Dog”) this new series will utilise the latest scientific innovations and leading-edge film-making technology to reveal the secret powers and super-senses of the world’s most extraordinary animals, inviting viewers to see and hear beyond normal human perception to experience the natural world as a specific species does — from seeing flowers in bee-vision to eavesdropping on a conversation between elephant seals to soaring the length of a football field with glow-in-the-dark squirrels.

Our opinion of the premise

From this lengthy premise on the Disney + website, all I can say is this documentary sounds like one exciting and powerful watch. I always wonder, what else is there to see, what haven’t we seen, yet, and the glow-in-the-dark squirrels sound like something someone cooked up in a lab, but I’m hoping that’s not the case. This documentary seems like it’s going to go bigger and deeper than ever before, giving us more insight into the planet and how it works, and I’m very much ready to see what they have been able to come up with.
