Summary
The more that I watch Tell Me Lies, the better that it becomes. As previously said, the characters are well-written. So, as a result, they’re fascinating to watch. Whilst it’s not always the most exciting, the situations that the characters find themselves in are realistic and reflective of true life.

The first three episodes felt quite long. But luckily, there’s a strong story buried within the show, and it makes it worthwhile watching. And although it didn’t have the most exciting of starts, it seems to be getting better with each episode. But will that continue to be the case?
Tell Me Lies, season 1, episode 4 recap
The fourth episode of Tell Me Lies starts off quite slow, with not all that much happening. Stephen belittles his roommate for “drawing pineapples.” And shortly afterward, Stephen prepares for his upcoming interview. Bree tells Lucy and Pippa that she’s lost her virginity. But the conversation turns sour when Pippa calls Lucy out for making a nasty joke. Lucy asks her lecturer for feedback, and she gets told to push herself further as her writing isn’t up to scratch. When Lucy reveals that she has been distracted due to Maisie’s death, the lecturer claims there will be something that they can figure out.
Bree becomes a nude model, and Stephen noses around someone’s apartment, even purposely touching a painting after being told specifically not to touch it due to its value. Lucy and Pippa continue to come to blows. Bree has sex with Tim again, although it’s obvious to see that she’s not comfortable with everything that he is making her do. Stephen attends the interview, which seems to get off to a decent enough start. Drew tells Bree how shi*ty he feels about welcome week. Whilst she accepts his apology, she tells him that she won’t be hooking up with him, and she puts her headphones back in.
During Stephen’s interview, he lies about traveling abroad and stumbles over Italy and France. And he doesn’t seem to fool her. Bree’s hookup, Tim, snaps at her for not telling him that she was a virgin; in fact, he tells her they shouldn’t hook up again. Stephen tells Lucy that his interview went great and that he wants to celebrate with her. And so, in the next scene, we see Lucy coming to visit Stephen. After they have sex, Lucy asks Stephen why he never goes to parties with him. He just responds with the poor response that they met at a party together.
The ending
Meanwhile, after a party, Bree and Drew make out. But they stop themselves from having sex, with Bree saying that she thought it would have made her feel better. Which, according to her, it did. The next day whilst at uni, she bonds with one of the students who drew her naked. But he seems “non-pervy”, and he and Bree actually get along quite well. So much so that she even tells him that she’s a foster child, something that it seems she hasn’t even shared with her friends.
Lucy gets upset with Pippa and Bree. She reveals that the stuff with Stephen doesn’t make her feel like herself anymore. And she shares her fear that he’s sleeping with other people. When she’s reminded of Max, the guy she slept with after meeting him in the alley, she goes to see him again. In the closing minutes of the episode, Stephen is honest to Diana about fu**ing up his interview. Later that night, Lucy abandons Max and returns to Stephen.
You can almost hear the audience screaming at Lucy for returning to Stephen. And whilst she’ll most likely regret that very action, it seems that we’ve got plenty more to watch before she starts to see sense.
