This article discusses the possibility of Heartbreak High (2022) Season 2 and its renewed or canceled status. It may contain some spoilers.
Netflix’s reboot of the long-running ’90s Australian hit Heartbreak High is, and this is as much a surprise to me as it is to you, one of the best shows of the year and perhaps the new gold standard for the genre. Imagine that! And since there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind the show is going to be a mega-hit among its target demographic, fans will doubtlessly be wondering about the show’s future.
Is there room for yet another teen show in Netflix’s already overcrowded thumbnails? Does this version have the staying power of the original? Here’s everything we know about a potential second season.
Renewed or canceled status – will there be a Season 2 of Heartbreak High (2022)?
While it’s too early to tell just yet, I’m pretty confident in predicting that we’ll see a second season of Heartbreak High.
The writing’s on the wall here, just like the Incest Map that kicks the entire first season into gear in the first place. Netflix are always looking for highly marketable franchises that they can milk for all their worth, and Heartbreak High has the double advantage of being a) a reboot of an already existing and once very-popular IP and b) really, really good. If the show performs as advertised, it’s a surefire banker for a renewal.
And there’s definitely precedent. The original series ran for seven seasons and was syndicated all over the globe, which was quite an achievement before the streaming era. These days, worldwide success is much more achievable, and the show has been finely calibrated for that with its talented cast of up-comers, staunchly diverse and progressive attitude, and genuinely engaging plot. Plus, the ending really didn’t close things off in a comprehensive way, leaving plenty more of the story left to be told.
If I was a betting man, which I am, I’d bet the house on seeing more Heartbreak High in the near future.
