What’s coming to Amazon Prime Video in October 2022?

Shows continuing from September

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power — What will likely be the most expensive TV series of all time—with a budget reportedly twice that for the entire LOTR film trilogy, though it does come with free two-day shipping—finally makes its debut after years of production. Filmed in New Zealand like Peter Jackson’s movies, prequel series The Rings of Power is not directly adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien’s books but instead depicts a brand new story set in the same world but taking place in the “Second Age,” several millennia prior to the events of The Hobbit during a time in which the rings of power were forged by Sauron.

Argentina, 1985 — Argentina, 1985 is inspired by the true story of Julio Strassera, Luis Moreno Ocampo and their young legal team of unlikely heroes in their David-vs-Goliath battle in which, under constant threat, they dared to prosecute Argentina’s bloodiest military dictatorship against all odds and in a race against time to bring justice to the victims of the Military Junta.

The Peripheral — Set in the future when technology has subtly altered society, a woman discovers a secret connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own.
