This article discusses whether there will be a Broad Peak 2, a sequel to the Netflix film Broad Peak, and will contain spoilers.

Broad Peak is a film documenting the life of Polish mountaineer Maciej Berbeka, and his obsession with conquering one of the world’s most dangerous summits. The film landed on Netflix on the 14th of September 2022 with mostly favorable reviews. RSC critic, Andy Punter, found the movie a compelling watch with a “very abrupt ending.” Considering the film’s popularity and how other attempts at reaching the infamously dangerous summit also ended in tragedy, maybe a sequel to Broad Peak is on the cards.

Broad Peak sequel potential release date

A potential sequel might be released as early as possible to ride on the original’s success. A sequel could happen within the next year or so, with a possible Fall 2023 premiere.

Broad Peak sequel cast – who might be in it?

While we might expect Leszek David to write and direct the film, it’s unlikely to see any original cast members return. Broad Peak had one story to tell, and it ended in our main character’s off-screen death. For a sequel to work, the director might need to start over with a new cast, telling another story. However, we expect the mountain to reprise its role as itself.

Broad Peak sequel plot: what could Broad Peak 2 be about?

It would be interesting to see a sequel focused on a different expedition up Broad Peak. The same year when Maciej Berbeka reached the summit and lost his life, three Iranian climbers suffered the same fate only a few months later. Broad Peak 2 could start with three men preparing for their summer expedition as they hear the news of Berbeka’s death. The film could focus on them processing the loss of a fellow climber and debating whether the risk of attempting to reach the summit is too great. Ultimately they decide to go ahead with the perilous climb, only to share the same fate as their Polish counterpart. Watching a new team attempt to reach the summit and examining their individual reasoning could make for a compelling movie.
