This article discusses 5 reasons to watch the Netflix series Only For Love and does not contain any spoilers.

With 21st September just around the corner, that can mean only one thing – Netflix’s new series Only For Love is on the way. This Brazilian musical romance will surely give hearts a flutter as its protagonists’ stories unfold.

Here are 5 reasons to watch Only For Love:

5 Reasons to Watch Only For Love

Reason 1. Musical fans LOVE a musical

Whilst not quite the marmite of genres, musicals do tend to attract a particularly die-hard fanbase. The people who are into them, are properly and wholeheartedly into them. Only For Love doesn’t sound like it will break the mould, but fans of similar sorts of films will go mad for it.

Reason 2. Romantics are also welcome to join the party

Obviously, there is plenty for musical fans, but given the premise, it sounds like there will also be a generous offering for viewers of a more romantic inclination. Only For Love seems to have a vibe that echoes 2019’s A Star Is Born, and if it turns out to be even half as good as that film, it won’t be a bad watch at all.

Reason 3. The syrupy-sweet plot sounds easy to digest

It may come over a little trite, but there is no questioning the fact that Only For Love’s plot should make for easy Sunday viewing.

As Netflix describes –

“Deusa’s solo career puts her romance with Tadeu to the test. Eva wants a great artist to sing her lyrics. Soon, their musical dreams collide.”

Again, we’re talking about something that massively appeals to an existing fanbase of a similar nature, but at the same time, it really doesn’t sound as though this series making any attempt to seem conceited or be clever beyond its means. If the writing holds up, it could be very watchable indeed.

Reason 4. Culture will have a huge influence on the style

Given the fact that Only For Love will be set in Brazil, the hope is that the country’s vibrant culture will come through in the creative aspects of the show. If it tries to Americanise or Anglicise things too much, it will be a real waste.

Reason 5. The trailer suggests it will be beautifully shot

Say what you will about all the other points mentioned in this article, one thing cannot be disputed after viewing the show’s trailer, and that is that it appears to be littered with gorgeous cinematography. Only For Love has made the effort to look the part, so we can only hope that everything else stands up alongside that.

You can watch this series with a subscription to Netflix.
