As beloved and culturally prominent as perhaps any sitcom ever — except perhaps The Simpsons — Seth Macfarlane’s Family Guy needs to explanation. Still, if you’re unfamiliar, here’s an official synopsis from Fox:
“Animated series ‘Family Guy” features the adventures of the Griffin family. Endearingly ignorant Peter and his stay-at-home wife Lois reside in Quahog, R.I., and have three kids. Meg, the eldest child, is a social outcast, and teenage Chris is awkward and clueless when it comes to the opposite sex. The youngest, Stewie, is a genius baby bent on killing his mother and destroying the world. The talking dog, Brian, keeps Stewie in check while sipping martinis and sorting through his own life issues.”
The adult-skewing animation has been running since 1999 and will enter its 21st season beginning this fall. Expect, as ever, close-to-the-bone jokes, surreal cutaways, and pop-culture nods by the bucketload.

No, there isn’t, but while we’re not sure exactly what to expect across the season, we do know that the 400th episode, which should premiere in November, is going to be a take on obsessive fandom.
