This article discusses whether there will be a My Best Friend’s Exorcism 2, a sequel to the Prime Video film My Best Friend’s Exorcism, and will contain spoilers.
My Best Friend’s Exorcism came out on the 30th of September on Prime Video to mixed reviews. The film, starring Elsie Fisher and Amiah Miller, adds a touch of much-needed girl power and some 80s nostalgia to the horror-comedy genre. Based on a 2016 novel by the same name, this horror flick is centered on two teenage best friends having to deal with one of them getting possessed by a demon. And as the title subtly suggests, My Best Friend’s Exorcism culminates in… well, an exorcism. While the movie ended with Abby and Gretchen successfully slaying the demon, is repossession possible?
My Best Friend’s Exorcism sequel potential release date
My Best Friend’s Exorcism premiered right on time for Spooky Season, so it’s safe to assume a potential sequel would be released at some point in the fall. Which fall, however, is anyone’s guess. There is no follow-up novel by author Grady Hendrix, so if a sequel were in the works, it would probably move away from the source material.
My Best Friend’s Exorcism sequel cast – who might be in it?
Hopefully, both Elsie Fisher and Amiah Miller would be game to reprise their roles as the lovable “super best friends with a supernatural problem.” Some of the supporting cast members like Cathy Ang, Rachel Ogechi Kanu, and Chris Lowell might also make an appearance.
My Best Friend’s Exorcism sequel plot – what could My Best Friend’s Exorcism 2 be about?
As the movie ends with Gretchen moving away with her family, the sequel could find the two protagonists several years after the events in the first film. The two have drifted apart and while they promised to stay in touch, it didn’t quite work out that way. However, one day Gretchen gets a call from Abby’s mother asking for help. As it turns out, Abby’s been showing signs of possession and the two girls need to re-unite to once again fight off the demonic.
