Hillary and Chelsea Clinton start their pilot with candid chats about menopause, female genitalia, sexuality and raunchy rap music empowering women to learn about their bodies in the modern age. Women’s stories come in all forms and that’s exactly what the series will explore which makes it a safe space for women to process everything.

The House of Flowers (2018) 

It always takes one person to hold everything together and that’s exactly how much power a woman has. There’s a level of communication shown in The House of Flowers when a wealthy matriarch tries to maintain her family’s facade of perfection after her husband’s mistress exposes their dirty secrets. There are many obstacles for them but they are resilient and continue to find that form of support with one another.

Dead To Me (2019)

This dark comedy, Dead to Me, starring Christina Applegate, a tightly wound widow and Linda Cardellini, a free-spirit brings an unlikely pair together who share a secret. Their friendship grows quite naturally and they become a powerhouse duo. The mystery has lasted two seasons and the information that is uncovered gets worse, but their friendship stands the true test. Both women approach life differently and it’s interesting to see how they respond to one another.

Sweet Magnolias (2020)

Three South Carolina women, best friends since high school, shepherd one another through the complexities of romance, career, and family. Sweet Magnolias series navigates how difficult it can be to go through life alone, or even through disagreements with your closest friends. The cast works really well together and it’s a wholesome series that highlights different stories and life lessons.

Ginny and Georgia (2021)

The series follows Ginny, a 15-year-old who is more mature than her 30-year-old mother, Georgia in a New England town, where Georgia decided to settle down with her daughter and son, Ginny and Austin. Ginny and Georgia can be a bit more dramatic than the rest of the ones on this list, but it sure shows the strength in keeping your support system close. No matter the age, the bond is always there and can carry anyone through anything. There are many obstacles they face together, but the mother/daughter dynamic is strong.

One Day At A Time (2017)

Follows three generations of the same Cuban-American family living in the same house: a newly divorced former military mother, her teenage daughter, and tween son, and her old-school mother. One Day At A Time highlights such important moments in everyone’s life, but most importantly as a Cuban-American. All of the characters learn something new about themselves and are able to support each other even when something goes wrong. It shows the true meaning of family.

Never Have I Ever (2020)

The complicated life of a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl, inspired by Mindy Kaling’s own childhood. This is one of the most underrated comedy series on Netflix, and it is such a well-rounded show. Never Have I Ever is able to balance humor and real-life experiences to make it fun and relatable. She touches upon issues of grief and mental health, while still crafting a coming-of-age comedy for everyone.

Grace and Frankie (2015)

Grace and Frankie stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as the eponymous Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein, two aging women who form an unlikely friendship after their husbands reveal they are in love with each other and plan to get married. The concept alone sounds fun but when these two women come together and become friends, it’s a different ball game. They find similar interests and tend to understand each other better than their former husbands.

Gilmore Girls (2000)

A dramedy centering around the relationship between a thirtysomething single mother and her teen daughter living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Gilmore Girls series has become an annual watch every autumn because it just feels like home. It gives off such a comforting feeling because these characters are grounded. Anyone can watch this show and relate to at least one character on it. More importantly, the support system shown throughout the community is what makes this such a lovable series.
