Reasonable Doubt season 1, episode 4 recap - "Guilty Until Proven Innocent"
3.5

Summary

Just as camp and soapy as the three episodes before it. And that’s exactly why audiences will love it. A new suspect seems to reveal themselves, and it makes you question why they weren’t considered as the killer earlier.

This recap of the Hulu series Reasonable Doubt season 1, episode 4, “Guilty Until Proven Innocent”, contains spoilers.

Reasonable Doubt season 1, episode 3 ended with Daniel being attacked. Will he survive? Or will the Onyx Collective‘s show feature an early death? Read the below recap to find out.

Reasonable Doubt, episode 4 recap

So Daniel is alive! Jax visits him in the hospital, and he’s in good spirits despite nearly being killed. With the trial looming, Lewis faces questions from his children, who question why the TV is saying that he hurt a woman, whilst also trying to reassure them that he won’t be getting a divorce. Jax’s father messages her and tells her that he is coming into town. Does she seem happy with the news? Not really. Afterward, Lewis tells Jax that their son asked if they were getting divorced — when Jax spends time with her son, she gets very angry when he locks his bedroom door.

Jax goes out for food with Damon — Damon says that whether Brayden is guilty or not, he thinks he will walk because he has money. Jax gets a call from her Mom; she wants Jax to decline her Dad’s offer to meet up. To help his public image, Brayden makes a speech in front of an audience. However, he goes off script and makes Jax very anxious. It works in his favor, and soon, the audience chant that he’s innocent, and his wife tells him that she’s proud of him. But does she have something to hide? She quietly gets accused of having something to do with Kaleesha’s death. Do you think she could have murdered Kaleesha?

The ending

Next, it’s time for the jurors to be selected for the trial. That night, when Jax goes to meet her Dad, he’s a no-show. Her Mom thought that would happen, so she was there to comfort her daughter. But when Jax learns that her Mom warned her father away, she gets very angry. She later tells Lewis that she was going to meet up with her father, something that he is very critical about — he accuses her of being more forgiving to her father than him. The conversation results in Lewis leaving Jax alone in her car.

Jax goes to see Spencer, but the door is locked. So, she drills the handle off. A little extreme. It starts to seem that Kaleesha’s cousin, Morgan, is not involved in her murder. So, Jax visits Morgan and demands the laptop, a stolen item, from her. Jax threatens to report Morgan as a potential suspect, meaning she’ll be locked up for 3-4 months unless they get the laptop. It looks like Jax’s plan works, as Morgan accepts some money in exchange for the laptop. After Jax paid for his dinner, Damon visits Jax in the middle of the night and tells her he will pay her back. But as her kids are inside, she stops herself from inviting Damon in. The episode ends as Sarah starts to explain the emails that she sent to Kaleesha.
