This article discusses the Netflix limited series Notre-Dame including the release date, time, plot synopsis, cast, and trailer.
In April of 2019, the world watched on live television as Paris’s famous Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris burned down. The fire was put out after fifteen hours, thankfully before the building collapsed. No one was killed in the disaster, but an enormous amount of damage occurred to the historic building. The structure was able to be stabilized by November of 2020, to ensure the building would remain standing, and reconstruction began in 2021. The cathedral will have its first mass since the fire in April of 2024, as the French government hopes to finish the reconstruction in time for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Netflix series Notre-Dame plot synopsis
Here is the official synopsis:
“Inspired by true accounts from French firefighters, this drama series explores the impact of the 2019 fire of Notre-Dame on a diverse group of Parisians.” The French-language limited series follows a fire chief, a firefighter, a news anchor, and a Parisian woman already struggling with her mother’s impending death.
Our opinion of the premise
The show is inspired by a book by Romain Gubert, La Nuit de Notre-Dame, which recorded the testimonies of the firefighters who worked on stopping the flames. The multiple perspectives on the fire in the limited series will hopefully offer a variety of views on how the fire affected the people of Paris. Producer Julien Madon stressed the importance of making the series an immersive experience for the viewers: “We wanted to enter into the cathedral: to see the flames, the action, the smoke, the people whose very lives were at risk.” It promises to be a thrilling watch.
Notre-Dame release date
The series will be released globally on Netflix on Friday, October 19th, at 12 am PT.

Is there a trailer?
There sure is! Check it out below:
In many ways, it feels too soon to be making fictional stories about the fire at Notre-Dame since it only happened a few years ago, but the fact that no one died during it does make it feel less insensitive. This actually isn’t the first project released this year to examine it, as a fictional film called Notre-Dame on Fire came out earlier this year along with a VR component.
Notre-Dame appears to be a very respectful look at the tragedy that disheartened people in France and around the world. It seems like it will properly honor those who worked tirelessly to put out the fire and save the historic site. Hopefully, this series will create even more interest in visiting the cathedral once it reopens in 2024.
