October sees Amazon Prime Video releasing the series The Devil’s Hour – we discuss the release date, time, plot synopsis, cast, and trailer.
Prime Video looks set to see Halloween in style this year! Towards the end of this month, the streaming platform will be dropping its brand new series, The Devil’s Hour — a six-part thriller from the same creative team as BBC’s Sherlock and Dracula. There’s no disputing that the genres for this show are strong, and with an absolutely stacked cast, plus the freedom that streaming allows, there is so much potential to be fulfilled here.
Here’s everything we know so far about The Devil’s Hour:
Amazon Prime Video series The Devil’s Hour plot synopsis
Here is the official synopsis:
“Lucy wakes every night at exactly 3:33am. Nothing in her life has made sense for a long time. But the answers are out there, somewhere, at the end of a trail of brutal murders.”
Our opinion of the premise
I love the sound of this show! The description itself offers just enough to make my eyebrow twitch and nothing else — it is truly a case of having to watch it to find out more. I’m fascinated to see how they connect the real-world murders that it mentions with what I’m guessing are supernatural elements, and whether the writing is strong enough to maintain the belief in the whole of the story as opposed to pitching two separate storylines that never quite match up how the writers might hope. However, is there enough there for me to take a punt on The Devil’s Hour? Absolutely.
The Devil’s Hour release date
The series will be released globally on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, October 28th, at 12 am PT, with all 6 episodes hitting the platform at once. It’s perfect timing for a Halloween binge-watch!

Look… we all knew TV was going to gain HUGE momentum as we headed into the winter months. Something about the longer evenings just brings out the best in all of the streaming platforms and channels. The Devil’s Hour appears to be further proof that this is the season for great home entertainment. It’s certainly set itself up very well and coming from such a high-caliber creative team utilizing a cast as impressive as this, it’s absolutely pulling out all of the stops. Is there a chance it could fall flat? Always. However, something about this time of year gives me a lot of hope for the quality of the shows hitting our screens. I’m optimistic about how this one could turn out, let’s say that much.
