This article contains predictions for the Prime Video series The Peripheral season 1, episode 3, and includes the release date and where to watch online.

In The Peripheral episode 2, Burton (Jack Reynor) and his friends battle bounty hunters, while Flynne (Chloe Grace Moretz) discovers the scary truth behind this suspiciously realistic VR game. The show started off with stunning visuals and lots of intrigue, but most of the mysteries are quickly uncovered, as the second installment rolls out a great deal of exposition and back story. Here’s what happened in episode two of The Peripheral:

  • In the future, Research Institute boss Cherise discusses the breach with Daniel. The killer from the first episode has tracked down Burton’s location and has offered a reward for his death. Cherise needs Burton and his people killed.
  • The bounty hunters and Burton’s gang find themselves in a shootout, whilst Flynne tries to protect her mother from attack in the house. The good guys end up on top, with none of their own harmed in the attack.
  • Lev contacts Wilf, asking for Flynne to be brought to the future once again. Aelita has gone missing and Flynne was the last person to see her alive.
  • Flynne is sent back into the game, this time in her own avatar’s body. Wilf explains that this is the real world, not a simulation. She isn’t physically in this world, but has had her data transferred into a robot. It is called quantum tunneling. Wilf proves that Flynne is in the future by showing her the obituary of her own mother and the outside world. They promise to save her mother if she helps them in return.
  • Back in 2032, Flynne picks up the medicine that will cure her mum and administers the drugs. She then updates Burton on the entire saga.
  • Deputy Sheriff Tommy Constantine discovers the invisible trucks by sheer luck, which may belong to the dead bounty hunters. He finds a bullet in the truck as well and asks Burton for his military expertise.
  • In London, 2100, Wilf introduces Flynne to Lev, Ash and Ossian. They need Flynne’s help tracking down Aelita, but Flynne wants answers first. They talk about parallel timelines and the likelihood of Flynne’s mother surviving. Flynne wants certainty before proceeding.
  • Burton asks for Conner’s help protecting their land from further bounty hunters.
  • Corbell, a local gangster type, is offered ten million dollars by Daniel to kill Burton and Flynne. He doesn’t believe Daniel, but finds $2.5 million in his account that night.
  • Flynne’s mother is cured of her blindness.

Predictions

  • It would seem that the Research Institute are getting rather desperate to have Burton and Flynne killed, they have now brought in Corbell Pickett to finish off the job. He’ll more than likely gather his cronies together and formulate a plan moving forwards.
  • Flynne will return to London, now that her mother is cured, and will start to track down Aelita in a dangerous, apocalyptic future.
  • Hunting for Aelita will catch the attention of the Research Institute, who are also after their own employee. Flynne will find herself chased by Daniel in one world and Corbell in another.
  • Tommy will continue to investigate the strange goings on in his town and discover that all trails lead back to Burton and his family.
