We discuss whether there will be a season 2 of the Hulu series Reasonable Doubt and its renewed or cancelled status.
Reasonable Doubt is the first original series from Hulu and the Onyx Collective. So for that reason, it has a lot riding on it. Thankfully, it has strong characters, relatable problems, developed backstories, and a killer mystery that keeps you guessing. It wasn’t heavily promoted prior to its initial release. However, it’s been well received since. And for that reason, there are a number of fans wondering what the future of the show is going to be.
As for the show itself, it features Jax (Emayatzy Corinealdi), a deeply flawed lawyer who soon finds herself stuck in a love triangle (kinda). With a marriage going down the pan and a possible romance with a former convict, Jax definitely has an eventful ride during the first season. But the show doesn’t just focus on her home life. No, it also focuses just as much on her work life. As previously stated in the Season 1 review, the show is not the most original. However, the strength of the vulnerable characters (and the stellar cast members that play them) helps this show stand out from the rest.
As previously stated, Reasonable Doubt has received a good reception from fans. Therefore it seems like there’s a decent amount of appetite for the show’s return.
Will there be a season 2 of the Hulu series Reasonable Doubt – renewed or canceled status?
At the moment, there have been no updates regarding the future of the legal drama. But given the warm reception it has received, it wouldn’t be crazy to assume that the show will be coming back.
Obviously, this will all depend on the finale, which airs on Thursday, 15th November 2022. Will the finale contain a complete story that means it isn’t necessary for the show to return? Or will it end on a cliffhanger? In my personal opinion, I think the show will end on a cliffhanger and will leave viewers eager for the show to return. Naturally, this kind of ending leads the way for the show to return. (Although it makes it very annoying when the show gets canceled without giving the audience any true resolution). So hopefully, that isn’t going to be the case for this show.
On the other hand, even if the show ties up all loose ends in the season 1 finale, I’m sure Reasonable Doubt could very easily return. For example, say the murder case gets solved (which I’m sure it will), and many of the characters don’t return in a future season, the show could very easily carry on. While all of the cast members are great in their roles, it is Emayatzy Corinealdi’s role as Jax that carries the show. Although not one without her faults, it’s likely that the audience will have more of a connection to Jax than any of the other characters.
Keep checking back, as we’ll update you when we find out more details. Like many shows on a streaming site, it’s likely that the network, Hulu in this case, will check out the numbers and reviews before making any kind of formal decision.
