Where was the Netflix film My Name Is Vendetta filmed? We discuss the anticipated movie and its locations.

My Name Is Vendetta is an Italian crime film by director Cosimo Gomez. The Netflix original was released onto the streaming platform on November 30th, 2022. This crime saga follows ex-criminal Santo (Alessandro Gassmann) and his feisty daughter Sofia as they try to outrun gangsters that want them both dead. It’s a brutal and stylish crime drama that introduces a breakout star in Ginevra Francesconi, who seems to be channeling the same sprightly, badass energy as Natalie Portman did in Leon: The Professional.

Santo and his family lived a quiet life in the mountains until the criminal’s identity and location were released online. Assassins quickly descend upon his home to kill the traitor. They murder his wife and brother without hesitation but still need to find the father and daughter to settle old scores. Santo and Sofia flee, hiding out in abandoned buildings as they run away from their merciless enemies. Whilst on the run, Sofia must learn to fight to avoid a similar end, like the one that the rest of her family suffered. She soon picks up the tricks of the trade from her mysterious father, who has his own dark past.

The film does a wonderful job of showcasing Italy’s beautiful landscapes and modern cityscapes. But where exactly was My Name Is Vendetta filmed?

Where was the Netflix film My Name Is Vendetta filmed – a breakdown of locations

Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy

The district of Trentino-Alto Adige is the northernmost part of the European country. It’s a mountainous area that borders Austria and Switzerland, covering a large part of the Dolomites and the Southern Alps. Sofia’s family home is located amongst these scenic mountains. News reporters describe Sofia’s home as a farmstead and it is much like a farmhouse, surrounded by rolling hills, with cattle grazing in the fields.

Sofia has a driving lesson early on in the film, which allows for a sweeping tour of this countryside. We get to lay our eyes upon beautiful forests, gorgeous mountain ranges, and a picturesque river. This really is a beautiful landscape that the filmmakers are happy to use as a backdrop to this cute bonding session. The film also explores the region’s capital Trento and the city of Bolzano with some additional shots of quaint streets and some rather posh houses.

Milan, Lombardia, Italy

As Santo and Sofia escape from their local area they find themselves spending their nights in abandoned buildings whilst on the run. There are a few scenes at an abandoned hotel, where Sofia is trained, and then an industrial warehouse. Santo starts to delve into his enemies’ whereabouts, which takes them into the city of Milan. Here we see skyscrapers and modern high-rise buildings, contrasting well with the earlier scenes of Italy’s great outdoors. The gangsters pinpoint their enemies to an area between the districts of Milan called Quarto Oggiaro and Bovisa. Here, there are more action sequences set in gritty car parks and an abandoned railway yard.

Roma, Lazio, Italy

The end credits also state that filming took place in the region of Lazio and IMDb highlights the capital city of Roma. It is unclear which scenes were shot in this district, as they do not focus on the tourist attractions or the city’s more famous landmarks. There are further scenes at the Don’s mansion and an office block, but these could have been filmed in any number of locations. Italy’s capital city covers a large area of land that could have been used on many occasions.
