How many episodes are there in Slow Horses season 2? This article discusses the Apple TV+ series and includes details on the second season.

Apple TV+ continues to build an impressive catalogue of original content year in year out, after its initial grand opening back in November 2019. The subscription streaming service is renowned for delivering high-end TV series and films, featuring some of the finest Hollywood talents, both in front of and behind the cameras. Slow Horses is just another one of the many hits from Apple TV+ that has engaged well with viewers.

The series follows disgraced MI5 agents, who are sent to Slough House to perform menial tasks away from the excitement of the MI5 headquarters at Regent’s Park. Although they always seem to find themselves right back at the center of the hottest scandals. While entangled in these deadly missions, they endeavor to help save the day. Fans of the series will be dying to know if there will be a second season. So, let’s discuss the prospects of a tantalizing follow-up season of the witty espionage series.

Will Slow Horses have a season 2?

The Apple original Slow Horses will be returning to the streaming platform for a second season on December 2nd, 2022. The successful British spy thriller, starring Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden, won over audiences and critics alike on its initial run back in April of 2022, but a second season was already in the works long before the first season had even aired. Apple appears to have a lot of confidence in this show, which is, of course, a good sign. Fans will be eagerly anticipating this follow-up season, but just how many episodes will there be in season two of Slow Horses?

How many episodes are there in Slow Horses season 2?

Season 2 of Slow Horses will consist of six episodes, which, funnily enough, was the exact same number in the first season. The episodes are around 45 minutes to one hour in length. The first season followed the first book in the Slough House series by Mick Herron, simply titled Slow Horses. The second season adapts the second novel, Dead Lions. This time around, the bumbling agents are tasked with investigating a seemingly harmless death of a field agent on a bus, but their sluggish leader Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) has other theories on the passing. This secretive investigation unearths a plot involving Russian sleeper spies and secret identities. It looks like the Slough House elite are in real danger once again.

How many seasons are there of Slow Horses?

There are currently two seasons of Slow Horses, the first season is already available exclusively on Apple TV+ for your viewing pleasure, and the second season will be available in its entirety by the end of the year 2022 as well. Two episodes will be debuting on December 2nd, with one subsequent episode released every week up until the finale on December 30th, 2022. The streaming platform is so infatuated with the series on the whole that they have already renewed Slow Horses for a third and fourth season, which I’m sure is music to the ears of all you die-hard fans out there.

Shame Gary Oldman is mulling retirement even though there are ever more Slow Horses they remain a must see and a must read. Although Mick Herron’s Bad Actors meanders a bit, it is still almost as compelling a read as Slow Horses. Mind you, that’s not surprising: on Amazon, Mick Herron is described as “The John Le Carré of our generation” and it’s all to do with bad actors and slow horses. Who would have thought le Carré might be associated with “any generation”! In terms of acclaimed spy novels, Herron’s Slough House series has definitely made him Top Of The Pops in terms of anti-Bond writers. For Len Deighton devotees that ends a long and victorious reign at number one.

Raw noir espionage of the Slough House quality is rare, whether or not with occasional splashes of sardonic hilarity. Gary Oldman’s performance in Slow Horses has given the Slough House series the leg up the charts it deserved. Will Jackson Lamb become the next Bond? It would be a rich paradox if he became an established anti-Bond brand ambassador. Maybe Lamb should change his name to Happy Jack or Pinball Wizard or even Harry Jack. After all, Harry worked for Palmer as might Edward Burlington for Bill Fairclough (real life MI6 codename JJ) in another noir but factual spy series, The Burlington Files.

Of course, espionage aficionados should know that both The Slough House and Burlington Files series were rejected by risk averse publishers who didn’t think espionage existed unless it was fictional and created by Ian Fleming or David Cornwell. However, they probably didn’t know that Fairclough once drummed with Keith Moon in their generation in the seventies. Both books are a must read for espionage illuminati.
