Willow is a 2022 sequel series to the 1988 Ron Howard dark fantasy film of the same name, which is something people might need reminding of since… well, it’s been a while. An unlikely choice for a revival, the series airs on Disney+ and is presumably an attempt at giving the streamer its very own rival to stuff like House of the Dragon on HBO and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Prime Video.
Here’s what happened in Willow episode 5:
- The gang fled the Gales into the Wildwood.
- In the woods, they ran into the Bone Reavers, led by Scorpia. We got some insight into Boorman’s backstory and also learned that Jade is Scorpia’s sister — Sorsha had lied to her about the circumstances of her parents’ death (her father was General Kael, who was killed by Madmartigan).
- Everyone ate “truth plums” which caused them to be totally honest with each other. Willow confessed to only being a mediocre sorcerer. Graydon explained why he killed his brother (he was possessed), and Kit and Jade confessed their feelings for one another.
- At the end of the episode, trolls kidnapped Kit.

- I imagine the next episode will be dedicated to rescuing Kit from the trolls with the help of the Bone Reavers. Will they be revealed to be working for the Crone to tie this into the main plot?
- Expect Elora’s faith in Willow to be shaken after overhearing his conversation with Graydon.
- Speaking of which, it seems like Elora has reciprocal romantic feelings for Graydon — where does this leave Airk?
- Speaking of Airk, will be get another glimpse of him?
