Mythic Quest is a workplace comedy series from Apple TV+. The series was created by Charlie Day, Megan Ganz, and Rob McElhenney, who all worked together on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. This highly successful office sitcom has run for three seasons now, surviving Covid lockdowns and any fears of cancellation, unlike many series of a similar caliber. The show’s popularity means that it has become one of the longest-running Apple Originals around, with praise from critics and fans alike.
The third season continues the story of the rivalry between Mythic Quest Studios and GrimPop, both of which are makers of popular online video games. Mythic Quest is now managed by the cowardly David Brittlesbee (David Hornsby), a yes-man with no clue of how to actually lead a company. His assistant Jo (Jessie Ennis) does most of the behind-the-scenes decision-making without taking any of the credit. Then at GrimPop Studios, there is the egotistical Ian Grimm (Rob McElhenney) and the zany Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicdao), creatives who always seem to be bickering with one another. They can’t seem to agree on a path forward now that they have gone independent together.
Overall, critics enjoyed the show’s mixture of humor and heart in the third season. Fans were equally as impressed, although the IMDb ratings have dipped slightly in the current batch of episodes. The show is consistent, yet it is hard to sustain the same originality and innovation over multiple installments and many seasons. So, will Apple TV+ be renewing the show for a fourth outing?
Will there be a season 4 of Mythic Quest – renewed or canceled status
Good news for all you Mythic Quest fans out there, Apple has already renewed the show for a fourth season. They actually renewed the series for a third and fourth season simultaneously all the way back in October of 2021. This demonstrates just how popular the series is and how confident Apple is with the show moving forwards. Double renewals are quite a rare thing, but Apple are known to do these kinds of announcements now and again, with Slow Horses getting a similar deal.
The series doesn’t seem to be going anywhere and can now concentrate on delivering even more character-driven comedy perfection. The entire gang will be back for more shenanigans in the new year. This double bill of renewals means that the writers have had time to build an overarching narrative for two seasons’ worth of story.
Hopefully, the Mythic Quest movie storyline will continue to grow as we move into season four, which is a promising subplot to say the least. There’s also more time to explore characters’ pasts and ongoing creations over at GrimPop. It’s exciting to see where the show will head next year, but as always, Ready Steady Cut will be here to deliver the latest on everything and anything related to the Apple TV+ series.
