But Georgia’s past threatens to ruin this life as her mistakes continue to haunt her. Ginny herself has issues, such as trying to reconcile with her broken friendship group and explore her relationship with Marcus.
Starring Antonia Gentry as Ginny and Brianne Howey as Georgia, the show attracted favorable reviews, with many comparing it to the Gilmore Girls but with a darker take. However, the show isn’t perfect, as some people pointed out its imperfections with its approach to race. Season two is nearly out on Netflix, with a date set early for the new year.
Is Ginny and Georgia season 2 done filming?
As season two has taken so long to come out, people have been asking if the filming process is taking longer than usual to explain the show’s delay. But this doesn’t appear to be the case.
Season 2 of Ginny and Georgia began filming on November 21, 2021, and wrapped five months later in April 2022. There haven’t been any reported delays or incidents on set, so filming isn’t the reason for the long time fans have been waiting between seasons.
Why is Ginny and Georgia season 2 not out yet?
As season 2 for Ginny & Georgia was announced over a year and a half ago, back in April 2021, many fans have been wondering why the production has taken so long. One reason is that filming took a while to even get started. Ginny & Georgia season 2 didn’t start filming until November 21, 2021, over six months since the second season was announced.
Talking to E! News in October, Brianne Howey explained that the delay for the program didn’t come from the filming but from the other languages Netflix has to translate the show into. The streamer has to do this for 180 different languages, which can take a long time.
“That [translation] takes around four months,” Howey said. “So it’s not actually the show itself, the show is done.”
Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, said at a recent investors call that audiences could expect the show in the last quarter of 2022. The actual release date seems to have just missed this expectation, with it coming out early next in 2023 instead.
When is Ginny and Georgia season 2 coming out?
Netflix has confirmed that the show will return on Jan 5th, 2023. This is slightly later than fans expected, as many hoped it would come out in 2022.
There is no official trailer for the second season. Netflix did release a season two announcement video in April 2021 on their YouTube channel, with the cast reacting to the news, but have otherwise remained tight-lipped about what the season will be about.
Antonia Gentry has been dropping plenty of teases for the upcoming season. In March 2021, she spoke to TVLine and theorized where Ginny and her brother were heading after the season one finale.
“If you’re paying attention because there are a lot of Easter eggs and things that you can miss quickly if you don’t… but when she’s packing her bag, she grabs the book that Zion gives her, and if you were paying attention when Zion arrives and is giving her the book, you know that he included an address.”
In November 2021, she spoke to Seventeen about what fans can expect.
“For season 2, the stakes are much higher now—obviously—than we left off with season 1. So, I think fans will be in for a lot of wonderful tension, a lot of building up to the climax, and a couple of interesting characters will be revealed. I can’t say a lot about it right now, but I can’t wait for us to go back to filming, which is very, very soon. I’m just really ready. I miss all my castmates.”

Ginny and Georgia will be available on Netflix on January 5th, 2023, when all ten episodes will release on the same day.
