As we navigate our way of watching Kaleidoscope, we have moved to the episode titled “Orange.” The first two episodes I watched were Yellow and Green,” so the events I’ve witnessed so far have been the group coming together and the backstory of Leo (Giancarlo Esposito) breaking out of jail and his relationship with Hannah (Tati Gabrielle).

Kaleidoscope Season 1 Episode “Orange” Recap

The episode begins with us getting the title “Orange” across the screen, and it says we are three weeks before the heist. Then we hear the FBI Agent talk about how she has been clean for three weeks, and work is starting to trust her again. Next, she starts to talk about how she finds her mojo at work again, with her gut instinct working like it used to. It leads to a moment where she takes down a criminal behind a door nobody looks at. Finally, she talks about how things are starting to come together as she is getting to see her daughter without supervision and hopes it leads to more.

We see an agent mention that they have a print from the recent heist, which was Ava’s. We see Nazan storm into her boss’s office and say she needs to be a part of this. Now we see Ava and Leo talking about the jewelry, where she is getting ready to sell it to get money for the heist. As she is off to fence the money, Bob follows her to the place and causes a bit of an uproar at the negotiations. However, she closes the deal at 400 thousand dollars.

They return with the money, and Leo says this is everything they need to close out the heist. Everyone must come in on time and within the budget without any questions. At home, we see Ava get a call from the FBI to question her about the jewelry heist that went down. The chess match ensues between Ava and the agent, and just when they thought they had her, she informs them that she had two guns stolen from her house, which could be why her fingerprint was on the bullet. Back at the place, Leo asks her about the entire thing, and she says they need to start being careful.

Now, the crew is starting to figure out the building and how they will pull this off. From the water system to the electric supplies, it leads to them being able to see the vault from the outside. The head FBI agent tells Nazan that she must focus on her job and stay away from Ava. Well, we knew that wasn’t going to happen as we see her scoping out Ava’s house, and Bob arrives to say that he wants a bigger cut because he doesn’t want to be cut out. Ava, the cold-hearted woman she is, tells him about himself and basically says they don’t need him. They need his girlfriend. Then we see Nazan get a text that she is late for something and speeds out, and Ava sees the car.

At the agency, Ava freaks out a little because her ex’s lawyer is all over every mistake she makes, including being late to a court hearing. Next, the agent with her sees the folder on Ava and asks her to break down why she thinks she is a part of the entire thing. So, she does just that, breaks it down to make him understand the why of it all.

The loose cannon that Bob calls out Stan and Judy for how they boosted a car together. It leads to Bob punching Stan in the face and Judy freaking out. They go outside together, and Stan calls Judy out for being with him and storms off. Moments later, we see Bob come out and share a paper with Judy. As the conversation continues, we assume he cannot crack any safes with his right hand now and is worried because that’s all he knows how to do. Of course, Judy attempts to talk him off the ledge. While this is all happening, Ava’s agent friend is doing a bit of recon work and sees it all happen.

Ending Explained

At the shop, Leo gives the good news to Bob that they have a replica safe, but the bad news is that the two of them have to spin simultaneously. We see Ava take a call saying she needs to meet with someone, leading Nazan to track where she is going. As she begins to follow her, we realize it was a big setup, which leads to a big elaborate thing where she planted drugs on her and got busted by some cops.

While freaking out over something, we see Nazan spot something after she tossed her papers all over the floor, and it was Ava’s mother. Next, as she is getting ready to take her dogs out, the cops arrive to take Ava’s mother. All of this leads to Ava and Nazan meeting, with Nazan finally being in a spot to have the upper hand. Because of this, Nazan gets what she wants by getting Ava to agree to be her person on the inside. The episode ends with Ava walking back into the office and telling Leo that she wants back in.
