Summary
Kaleidoscope’s writers deserve a pat on the back for what they were willing to do with characters their viewers fell in love with.
Please note that episodes are in random order for each viewer for this series. Check out our Correct Order of Episodes for Netflix’s Kaleidoscope.
As we navigate our way of watching Kaleidoscope, we have moved to the episode titled “Pink.” The first six episodes I watched were “Yellow,” “Green,” “Orange,” “Violet,” “Blue,” and “Red.” In “Red,” we followed the crew the morning after the heist, which was a wild ride to see who was still alive, what happened, and what was ahead.
Kaleidoscope Season 1 Episode “Pink” Recap
The title card pops up informing us it’s six months after the heist. We see Nazan breaking down each crew member and trying to navigate the who, the what, and the how. We find out that Roger is in jail for murder, arson, and false identity. She wants to know how these folks got away with the heist of the century. Next, we see Bob visiting Roger in jail. Bob cannot talk now and shares that he is one of the guys from the heist. Bob says he wants fifty grand and takes them down. Well, Roger tells him that he will give him twenty grand under one condition: he kills Leo.
We see Leo struggling right now as his Parkinson’s is ramped up. His phone is blowing up, and it’s Stan trying to call to get passports out of the country. Next, we see Bob in a bar with a group of guys that he is trying to get help from to find the crew. They are quite reluctant, but he shares how much they got in the heist, and it piques the men’s interest.
We move to Foley Beach, where Stan and Judy are trying to get a mark, but things aren’t going so well for the two of them. Then we see Leo doing exercises while Ava walks in to check on him. Back to Bob, who is heading after a guy he believes will point him in the right direction. In the hotel room, Stan is trying to calm Judy down, saying they should try one big job. He wants to live happily ever after, but she breaks down that it’s not as easy as he thinks. She pulls the bracelet out of her bag and says fence it. Finally, she says, “Bob is the one person we don’t have to worry about anymore.”
Nazan’s boss tells her that she needs to make something happen for the triplets soon. On top of that, if she goes rogue again, she will empty out her desk. Back with Leo, Ava says they need to move to a new place, but he starts to seize. After he comes back, she talks about a job they could do in Ohio and get half a million dollars. While sitting there, Stan says that the jeweler might have noticed the bracelet and that they need help.
We see the FBI moving down to Folley Beach, which Ava finds out about. She arrives home to tell Leo it’s time for them to pack up and go ASAP. Nazan questions the man at the pawnshop, and he acts like a complete fool toward her (he is wearing a Federal Boob Inspector shirt). Bob and the crew have arrived at Ava and Leo’s, and a shoot-out begins. As Ava gets the upper hand, Bob cracks her over the head with the gun and knocks her out.
Bob uses a recorder on his phone, and one of the funniest moments in TV history happens. After he uses the app once, an ad pops up and goes off before he can use it again. I was DYING laughing. Seriously hilariously written based on Bob being a cheapskate and wouldn’t in a million years spend a nickel to unlock anything in an app.
As Bob searches around the house for Ava’s guns, he runs into Ava’s friend. He sits her on the couch, puts a gun to Ava’s head, and tells Bob that she will call Leo. Next, Leo arrives and says he has the money in the bag. Bob wants more, as he wants to know where Judy and Stan are. Then, Leo attempts to push Bob to the limit, and Bob says it’s Judy and Stan or Ava and grandma. Bob tells Leo to call him and set up a meeting.
Ending Explained
Well, Leo called someone, I don’t think it was Stan, and set up the meeting with Bob. So Bob speeds to South Carolina while everyone remains tied up back home. Things go south for Bob really fast as he goes in for the meet, but the FBI moves in quickly, and a shootout ensues after a big exchange, down goes Bob.
But back at Leo’s house, they break free, but Bob’s henchman wakes up and shoots Ava and her friend. Leo is finally able to break free and attack him. While this is going on, Judy sees Bob’s car, finds a bunch of money, shoves it in a bag, and looks back at Stan, but looks as if she is going to leave him there for good.
Finally, Leo breaks down, calls Hannah, and admits many things that he did and shouldn’t have done. While on FaceTime, Hannah shows him her little girl and mentions that she would love for him to visit them. At the FBI office, Nazan’s boss tells her a job well done, but Nazan is displeased because she feels like they are getting played.
The episode ends with the FBI agent passing out in the middle of the street after a man walks up and shakes her hand. At the office, the head of the FBI mentions that the job can swallow you whole to Toby as he packs up his boxes. Finally, we see Leo walking in a park, and as he walks under the bridge, a mysterious man follows him, and as the episode fades to pink, he pulls the trigger, and bang, it’s over.
My final note about the linear situation is that I think you need to watch it in the correct order. Otherwise, I feel like the ending doesn’t pay off as well.
What did you think of Netflix’s Kaleidoscope Season 1 Episode “Pink”? Comment below.
he’s packing up HER boxes
megan’s comment is right lol toby is packing up nazan’s boxes because it is assumed she died the handshake.
The mysterious man who shot Leo was Roy Salas’ his son. He was wearing the same exact shirt as in the white episode.
wait, so you’re saying she actually died from a handshake? was the killer sent from the triplet?
From Episode Blue…
“You cross them the wrong way, one day you’re walking down the street, someone brushes your arm, three blocks later you drop dead of a heart attack.”
Wow I totally agree with that u have to watch it in the correct order…I just don’t have the motivation to watch the last part which I wanted to see sooo much…but now that I know what will happen I feel like it would be just a waste of a time cause this is too depressing for me. I wanted a better ending…in my opinion they screwed up that part where everyone had to die…why is there a need for so much death?
I was wondering in the pink episode….thoughts on why was Stan and Judy at folly beach if Leo called the detective…… how did they know to come …..thanks
