We discuss predictions for the Apple TV+ series Truth Be Told Season 3 Episode 2 and include the release date and where to watch online.

The Apple Original series and Octavia Spencer’s iconic podcaster Poppy Parnell are back for a third season. In the opening episode, Poppy investigates the disappearance of two teenage girls in the local Oakland area. These aligned, tragic events bring up issues of racism within the local police department and media outlets, as black girl Drea (Nia Sondaya) is ignored completely, as they focus their attention on finding white girl Emily Mills. It’s an intriguing concept that draws in the viewer as Poppy investigates Drea’s disappearance and fights racial injustice simultaneously. Here’s what happened in Truth Be Told Season 3 Episode 1:

  • Poppy explains how teenage girls are going missing at an alarming rate in the local area. Drea Spivey even went missing once before, due to drug-related issues. The first disappearance was also ignored by the police and media. Drea returned home and Poppy interviewed the teen about the incident. Poppy replays the recordings and focuses on a new drug called High Hunter. She asks Detective Aames if he’s heard of the drug.
  • Principal Eva Pierre leads a meeting discussing student safety after the multiple disappearances. A few parents are unkind about Drea’s drug problem, so Eva catfishes a student to make a point about their gullible nature.
  • At an event promoting the importance of registering to vote, the next mayoral candidates make statements. During Andrew Finney’s speech, Poppy and other protesters make a demonstration. They wear T-shirts and hold signs about the missing girls. Finney says this isn’t the time or place and Eva retaliates, starting a chant.
  • Poppy and Eva meet afterward. Together they question Drea’s friend Tanya. She was aware of Drea being with an older guy but doesn’t know about High Hunter. Poppy worries Drea is involved in sex trafficking.
  • Poppy and Eva hand out fliers together and discuss Eva’s childhood. They both lost mothers at a young age.
  • Drea calls Poppy out of the blue, asking her to stop the investigation. Drea lets slip that she is involved in sex trafficking. Poppy tells Charise (Drea’s mother) and asks to talk about it on her podcast.
  • Poppy’s producer Noa quits after issues with their marketing company. This will be her last podcast. Poppy talks about Drea being a victim of sex trafficking and how it has infiltrated the local community.
  • Eva meets with prostitutes on the streets, hoping to find answers.
  • Aames informs Poppy that Drea has been found dead. The motel where she is found is nicknamed High Hunter. Poppy believes someone wanted to silence Drea.

  • I don’t think Poppy is going to stop her investigation now that Drea has been found dead. I think this will only spur her on further. She will gather more evidence from the motel crime scene and question other prostitutes caught up in the trafficking world.
  • After spotting Eva at the motel, Poppy will interrogate the Principal about her own sleuthing ways. Poppy will propose working together on the case.
  • The search for Emily Mills will continue. Aames will find some important evidence that will lead them to further clues, but I don’t expect them to find Emily any time soon. Will more teens go missing as the mystery unravels?
