“Her, Armed with Sorrow Sore” continues the investigation into missing teens in the Oakland area. Poppy (Octavia Spencer) is devastated to hear of the death of sixteen-year-old Drea Spivey, deciding to investigate her murder instead. The local police are more interested in finding Emily Mills though and leave Poppy to do her own sleuthing. It’s a rather slowly paced installment, with the odd twist to keep viewers coming back for more. Here’s what happened in Truth Be Told Season 3 Episode 2:
- Poppy attends Drea’s funeral. She is verbally attacked for not doing more to save Drea and Principal Eva comes to her rescue. Poppy is suspicious of Eva though, who was found at the crime scene. Eva admits that she was visiting a different student, whose parents are illegal immigrants in the country.
- Markus and Poppy inspect Drea’s room. Poppy finds a handbag containing a burner phone. On the Questeur app, they find contacts of Drea’s. Poppy believes one of these regulars may be the killer.
- Shreve (Poppy’s father) tries to gain support from Capstone members, but fails. His hopes of working with mayoral candidate Andrew Finney also go out of the window.
- Shreve tags along with Markus and Poppy, who search Drea’s motel room. They find a needle, but no more evidence. They visit the diner next door and question prostitutes. One says that a man was with Drea the night she died, his car’s license plate is IRX4You, the same name of one of Drea’s Questeur app contacts.
- Aames is brought back into the Emily Mills case. He speaks with the parents, informing them that they have found Emily’s car and her blood was found in this vehicle too. Aames asks if they have any enemies. Emily’s parents mention a business associate called Victor.
- Eva is seen kissing a stranger in a night club car park. The woman asks for Eva’s real name, referring to her by her handle – Bottom 2 Top Energy. This is another name found in Drea’s contacts.
- Poppy and Markus go to question Drea’s regular with the IRX4You plate. Eva asks to tag along. The man admits to seeing Drea, but has a strong alibi for the time of her death. He mentions hearing Drea arguing with a man called Trey.
- Aames gives Poppy the address of a man who goes by the name Trey from the police database.
- When they visit Trey’s house, a prostitute called Rochelle answers the door instead. It is the same woman who told Poppy about IRX4You. She lied to Poppy and tried to misdirect her. Poppy sees she is wearing Drea’s necklace and Aames arrests her.
- In the house, Poppy finds a laptop containing many video files. The clips show underage women having sex and one file involves Trini (Markus’ daughter) and her boyfriend Aubrey together. Markus sees the video clip.

Predictions
- It looks like Trey is involved in this sex trafficking enterprise and keeps video clips of the sexual acts for himself. This doesn’t explain why Trini and Aubrey are on the files though. It is possible that they used the motel to get away from their parents and Trey just so happened to film them in secret. Markus will be having strong words with both teenagers.
- The prostitute Aames has arrested will provide a few snippets of information, but she won’t rat out her pimp. Trey may be arrested as well, and again, reveal very little evidence. They will hopefully shut down his operation and keep him imprisoned for his criminal acts though.
- Poppy will continue to work alongside Markus and Eva. It seems like Eva has more information than she is letting on. Hopefully Poppy can get more answers from Eva as the series progresses.
