Godfather of Harlem is back on the newly-rebranded MGM+ for another season of crime drama shenanigans blended with real-life historical events. Following the conclusion of the previous season, the third picks up in the aftermath of the Harlem Riots, with both the city and Bumpy Johnson trying to rebuild in the aftermath of this landmark action in American civil rights.
Here’s what happened in Godfather of Harlem Season 3 Episode 3:
- Jose enlisted Bumpy to assassinate a man who he claimed was one of Castro’s lieutenants who had arranged for the execution of his family. Bumpy later discovered the man was a journalist and also that Battle gets his weapons from the CIA, an arrangement he isn’t exactly fond of.
- Stella remains under the protection of Joe Colombo and she seems to be softening on him a little.
- Malcolm X traveled to Saudi Arabia but was detained at customs because he couldn’t prove he was a Muslim. He ended up bonding with a white Muslim named Dr. Azzam who challenged his views on white people.
- Mayme was forced to resign as one of the executive directors of HARYOU after the organization’s connections to Bumpy’s activities were threatened to be exposed by ADA Pike.

Predictions:
While we don’t have an official synopsis for the next episode, we can make some logical assumptions:
- Will Mayme’s resignation affect her relationship with Bumpy?
- As speculated about in the recap, is something romantic going to happen between Stella and Joe?
- It seems like Bumpy will continue doing business with Battle, but any funny business with the CIA is obviously going to complicate matters. I suspect the CIA might expect Bumpy to do their bidding.
- The Italians may begin to move on Bumpy and Battle’s arrangement.
I think in episode 10 you’re going to see Malcolm X get assassinated and bumpy doing work with the Italians in Harlem
