1923 left us with another episode of Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and Alexandra’s (Julia Schlaepfer) lives in danger. Frankly, it has been happening so often it is translating to an equivalent of murder of the week as the couple continues to almost to meet their demise.
1923 Season 1 Episode 6, titled “One Ocean Closer to Destiny,” also covers storylines with Teonna (Aminah Nieves) on the run from the Indian school and the Dutton’s plans to keep reinforcing their depleted ranks.
Here’s what happened in Episode 6:
- Jacob is working his way back to health but cannot ride a horse because of all his stitches.
- Cara hires a new livestock agent named Clyde, a cowboy who used to be a police officer in Chicago.
- Cara tells the sheriff what happened when the Sheepherders attacked the Dutton clan. The sheriff confronts Jacob, who tells him he will make arrests in the morning, but his family all need to make official statements.
- Teonna is now being taken care of by Hank. He has her burn all her clothes and remnants of the Indian school. Teonna is now disguised as a boy, and her name is Joe.
- Teonna’s grandmother, Issaxche, was killed by agents who stormed her home looking for Teonna. Why? Remember, she murdered two nuns at an Indian school.
- Spencer and Alexandra survive the boat accident. Spencer swims underneath the floating upside-down vessel, where she is trapped.
- A passing ship sees and hears Spencer’s shotgun blast nearby and rescues them. The captain marries the couple.

Predictions
- A showdown brewed between Jacob and Whitfield, with roads built up the mountain and squeezing the Duttons. Look for Whitfield and Jacob to have a meeting of the minds finally.
- Alexandra survives, but I still say she will not make it to the Yellowstone ranch. My guess this week? As they track across the United States, maybe our English rose catches the Spanish flu.
- I feel Banner will finally meet his maker in the next few weeks. I want to say it will be Jacob, but I think Spencer will hunt him down.
- Who will the Sheriff side with? While it seems simple, it may be Jacob, there was a reason he wanted this to be quiet, and Whitfield has deep pockets.
- There seems to be some exciting foreshadowing with Jack and Elizabeth as the camera focuses on her stomach wound, but they talk about how she knows she is pregnant. Could there be complications based on that wound? I am still sticking to my longshot prediction Jack will not survive the season and that a certain someone will end up with his bride.
