Although Tomo is the main character, Jun surprises viewers weekly with his own dilemmas. It’s clear he’s struggling with more than a few different feelings, making it hard to see Tomo as anything other than a rival. However, that may be changing after today’s trip to the beach. Here’s what happened in Tomo-Chan Is a Girl! Season 1 Episode 7:
- As Jun jogs alone, he reminisces on ten years earlier, when he’d first moved to this town and met Tomo.
- After accidently breaking his game, Jun punched Tomo. Tomo promised to make it up to him, before returning with her parents to apologize and asking to be friends. From there, the two become inseparable.
- Tomo introduces Jun to Misuzu, who butt heads. Misuzu continues to tease him about his obvious lack of stamina and strength compared to Tomo.
- After running into some bullies who take his video game, Jun shows up to hang out with a bandaid on his face.
- Tomo returns his video game to him, pretending to have just stumbled on it.
- Jun immediately knows Tomo confronted the bullies and scolds her for it. He says he never asked for her help but is actually upset because he realizes he will never be strong enough to return the favor.
- Jun allows Tomo to borrow his video game and tells her to keep it until he is a stronger man than she is. He will only come to reclaim it when that happens.
- Tomo cannot believe it’s been ten years since Jun lent her the game, and wonders when he will finally return to retrieve it.
- Tomo and her friends decide to hang out at the beach for Summer break.
- Jun encourages Tomo to take her hoodies off but finds himself flustered when she does.
- Jun ends up sitting under the umbrella with Misuzu while Tomo and Carol enjoy the water. With time, Tomo seems to forget about being nervous in her swimsuit and drags Jun to the water.
- A random beachgoer begins hitting on Tomo. At first, she’s intrigued but soon finds herself creeped out.
- Jun pops out from the water, scaring the beachgoer away.
- Tomo and Jun enjoy ice cream together. As they eat, she tries to sit as close to him as possible but doesn’t think Jun even notices. Meanwhile, he is internally freaking out.
- Back in the water, Jun begins to realize something has been different lately between him and Tomo.
- When Misuzu asks Jun if something’s wrong, he only responds that he has been distracted. She realizes that it’s because he’s finally starting to see Tomo as a girl.

Predictions
With Jun’s feelings constantly throwing viewers for a curveball, it can be hard to predict just what is going to happen between him and Tomo each week. However, maybe now that he’s slowly starting to see Tomo as a girl, maybe it will get easier to figure out where things are going.
- Jun is clearly torn about his feelings, having not fully realized what he’s thinking yet. Although he and Misuzu butt heads, they’ve still known each other for a long time, and I could see him turning to her for help on trying to figure out why he’s been feeling strange around Tomo.
- Tomo was understandably confused to hear Jun brush off the possibility of ever being her boyfriend but not Carol’s. So far, Tomo hasn’t been one to hold back, and I wonder if she will confront Jun on this later.
