While romantic comedy anime always tend to do well, some stand out more than others. The more unique a series is, the more memorable it often is, and Tomo-Chan Is a Girl! is an anime that is slowly but surely solidifying itself as a show to remember.

Like most new series, Tomo-chan took a few episodes to establish itself and its story. Since then, however, it has continued to improve and impress every week with better, more natural-feeling jokes and a romance storyline that doesn’t feel rushed or overdone. If you’re enjoying Tomo-chan Is a Girl!, here are ten more anime series like it you might enjoy!

10 Anime Shows like Tomo-chan Is a Girl! you must watch

Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun (2014)

Like Tomo, Chiyo Sakura botches her confession to a classmate and manga author Umetarou Nozaki. Instead of returning her love, Nozaki offers her a job. This cute series also has a small ensemble cast of lovable characters.

Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! (2020)

What starts as an innocent friendship soon looks like something more when Hana Uzaki tries to get her friend Shinichi Sakurai to embrace college life. Fans of Jun’s somewhat clueless character will love Shinichi. The two characters even share similar designs and the same dub actor.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! (2020)

One thing that makes Tomo stand out most is how she’s never afraid to be herself. The same can be said for Katarina Claes, a former otaku who now turned heiress aristocrat after waking up as the main character in one of her favorite games. Retaining all her memories of her past life makes Katarina unique in her new life, and it’s those traits that not only attract suitors but may very well keep her alive.

Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie (2022)

Shikimori is far more than just a pretty face. She’s intelligent, athletic, calm, and luckier than her boyfriend, Yuu Izumi. Fans of Tomo’s character will find Shikimori easy to root for. She often struggles with how she is perceived but never lets it stop her from succeeding.

Tsuredure Children (2017)

High school romance can be painfully hard to navigate at the best of times, and Tsuredere Children reminds us of that. This cute romantic comedy series is packed with dating life’s ups and downs while following several couples on their journey for love. It’s got all the comedy of Tomo-chan but with a bit more variety in its storylines.

Kaguya-Sama: Love is war (2019)

There’s nothing easy about confessing your love for someone. Unlike Tomo, Kaguya Shinomiya just straight-up refuses to do it. She’s holding out for her crush Miyuki Shirogane to say it first while he does the same. It’s like watching Tomo try to get Jun to realize her feelings times ten. The student council members will remind viewers of Tomo and their close friends.

Romantic Killer (2022)

The last thing Anzu Hoshino wants is live life. However, intervention from the magical world doesn’t seem inclined to allow that. Anzu is another feisty redhead who knows what she wants, but unlike Tomo, it isn’t romance. Still, watching her thrust into the dating world is fun anyway. With little experience, she cares about as well as Tomo, honestly, but it’s hilarious to watch. Romantic Killer may even tug at your heartstrings more than you expected.

Blue Spring Ride (2014)

The fact that Jun and Tomo have known each other since childhood plays a big part in their relationship, especially knowing they briefly lost touch in middle school. While they managed to reconnect on a positive note, that’s not always the case. For fans who enjoy the more dramatic aspects of Tomo and Jun’s back-and-forth romance, Blue Spring Ride offers a more serious take on trying to reconnect with old friends and flames in high school.

My Dress-Up Darling (2022)

Although she may not look like it, Marin Kitagawa is a total otaku. She and Tomo are driven to try new things, taking them out of their comfort zones. Although Marin isn’t exactly looking for romance when she asks her classmate Wakana Gojou for help crafting cosplay outfits, that doesn’t mean the sparks aren’t there. This is another hilarious romantic comedy anime where it’s best not to judge a book by its cover.

Komi Can’t Communicate (2021)

Sometimes it can feel like there’s a barrier holding us back from being able to express our feelings to those we care about. For Komi, that barrier isn’t just symbolic, as her crippling anxiety makes it almost impossible for her to connect with her classmates. After Hirohito Tadano learns this, he aims to help Komi achieve her dream of making 100 friends—although that task may be easier said than done. While Komi’s affliction is a bit more literal, it’s easy to see how it keeps her from connecting or sharing her feelings with Tadano, much like Tomo and Jun.
