Amazon Prime Video is the streaming service you likely have for reasons other than their film content – many people have it as a way to get free shipping for many Amazon products. But it’s an underrated source of content, being the distributor behind a handful of great films over the past few years, including Sylvie’s Love, One Night in Miami, and Argentina, 1985.

2. Shotgun Wedding
This film received mixed reviews, but it’s still worth it for lovers of JLo romantic comedies. It’s great to see Jennifer Lopez again returning to the genre to take part in a light-hearted film, and the premise offers something unique and not seen before.
Official Premise: “Darcy and Tom gather their families for the ultimate destination wedding, but when the entire party is taken hostage, ‘’Til Death Do Us Part’ takes on a whole new meaning in this hilarious, adrenaline-fueled adventure as Darcy and Tom must save their loved ones—if they don’t kill each other first.”
Cast: Jennifer Lopez, Josh Duhamel, Jennifer Coolidge, Lenny Kravitz

Review Excerpt: “Yes, Shotgun Wedding has some of the same cheesy themes as some romantic comedies. And yes, the final act has some of the same resolutions as many buddy-action comedies. However, all are done well and deliver enough laughs from the cast’s deep bench of comedic performers. Moore’s film doesn’t reinvent filmmaking or elevate the genre; it simply sticks the landing by being undeniably entertaining and even sweet.”
1. Ten Little Mistresses
This murder mystery film marks the first Filipino Prime Video original movie. It’s an exciting step towards even more diversity from a studio that frequently produces international films. Just this year, one of the nominees for Best International Film at the Oscars is another Amazon Prime title, Argentina, 1985.
Official Premise: “On the eve of his 60th birthday, newly widowed billionaire Valentin Esposo gathers his ten mistresses to make amends for the way he has treated them. In the past, Valentin was always on the lookout for the next pretty young thing. But now, he claims that the death of his wife has made him re-assess the way he was living his life. Now, he wants to start anew.”
