Servant’s loyal fanbase is finally rewarded with “Awake,” one of the strongest installments in the series to date. This penultimate episode focuses on Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose) and her forgotten memories. Sean (Toby Kebbell) and Julian (Rupert Grint) finally talk seriously with her about that tragic summer when Jericho died. It’s an emotional and tense chapter, delivering on years of build-up. Here’s what happened in Servant Season 4 Episode 9:
- Dorothy speaks with Sean on the phone. He needs to see her but worries he’ll be hospitalized for weeks. Dorothy cannot visit him either because of the storm. Sean says he’ll send Tobe a food gift basket the next morning.
- Leanne calls Sean and threatens him. She then stays by Dorothy and Jericho’s side throughout the night.
- The following day, she suggests they all watch a film. Dorothy retrieves the gift basket and finds a note. Sean wants to meet with Dorothy in secret. Dorothy pretends to be ill and goes to bed. Leanne looks after Jericho while Dorothy escapes.
- Outside, Dorothy is met by Sean and Jericho, who waits for her in a car. They explain what Leanne did to them, that she is crazy. They finally wish to tell Dorothy the truth.
- Sean asks Dorothy what she remembers about last August. Dorothy is shocked that Sean knows about her amnesia. She cannot remember anything, and it is driving her insane.
- Sean talks about his job in Los Angeles that he escaped parenting and is a coward. Julian cries, saying that he abandoned her as well. He was off-scoring drugs when Dorothy needed him.
- Sean talks about the accident and the doll. They didn’t know what to do; the doll seemed to work for a while. Dorothy is rightfully confused. Sean says it was a mistake, an accident, and Dorothy cannot blame herself. Julian urges her to think back and remember.
- Dorothy remembers the incident. She screams and tries to escape from the car. She falls out of the car onto the floor. Sean and Julian embrace her in the biblical downpour.
- They return to the house. Leanne is waiting for them with the doll. Sean and Julian say that Leanne is mentally unstable and that she is lying to Dorothy and manipulating her.
- Leanne says that she was angry when she discovered that it was Dorothy’s fault that Jericho had died. But she made it her purpose to fix the problem. She used her powers to bring Jericho back to life. She can get him back for good. Dorothy needs to say yes. Sean and Julian try to convince her that Leanne is lying; the baby wasn’t theirs.
- The episode ends just as Dorothy is about to respond to Leanne.

Predictions
- In the final episode of the season, Dorothy must make a decision. Does she go with Leanne’s fantasy, the promise of a perfect future with Jericho still alive, or does she stick with Sean and Julian’s reality that her son is dead forever?
- I’m going to predict that Dorothy sides with Leanne. She has just found out that it was her fault that her son died and that Jericho is gone forever. Dorothy will do anything to have him back again. She will make a deal with the devil to see Jericho alive and well.
- What happens next is anyone’s guess, though. Hopefully, the series will unveil many of its darkest secrets. But “Fallen” only has a running time of thirty minutes. They can only answer so many questions. Hopefully, we will find out if Leanne is supernatural if the baby was real, and why Leanne wants to play these monumental mind games in the first place.
