History of the World: Part II launched on Hulu on March 6th, 2023. The show was billed as a four-night event, with two episodes dropping each night. The sketch comedy show, created and narrated by the legendary Mel Brooks, is a sequel to his manic theatrically released movie History of the World: Part I in 1981.
The original movie starred Brooks and featured different vignettes from different historical periods. Brooks would play five characters in the flick alongside Hollywood luminaries like Dom DeLouise, Madeline Khan, Gregory Hines, Cloris Leachman, Sid Ceaser, and Orson Welles. The Hulu TV show has Brooks narrating and producing the show, and although it has taken over forty years, the sequel series has already found an audience, leading to the question, will there be a History of the World Part 3?
Will there be a History of the World Part 3?
History of the World has not been renewed for Part 3 yet. There has been no announcement from Hulu.
The show’s fate is pretty much in the hands of the higher-ups at Hulu, who will decide whether or not the show will be renewed for a third run.
Showrunner Davis Stassen recently stated in an interview with ComicBook.com that he would be onboard for another season. Whether to renew will be based on the reaction to the show and the ratings, but the crew behind the show hopes it will be green-lit. The show’s format, sketches from different historical periods, is a vast playground for writers, so it would be straightforward to continue with the show.
