It’s back! And while the wait hasn’t quite seemed so long since The Book of Boba Fett essentially morphed into The Mandalorian Season 2.5 without warning, it’s still nice to see Mando and Grogu back on our screens. With a redemption arc, reams of fan service to play with, and more appetite than ever for small-screen Star Wars after recent successes, the latest season of The Mandalorian has all the potential of a being another mega-hit for the House of Mouse.
Here’s what happened in The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 3:
- After Mando and Bo-Katan left Mandalore they were ambushed by a squadron of TIE interceptors and Bo-Katan’s castle on Kalevala was destroyed. He was forced to take her to safety with his secret cohort, the Tribe.
- Most of the episode’s action took place on Coruscant from the perspective of Dr. Pershing, who was being assimilated into the New Republic through an amnesty program for former Imperial officers and intellectuals.
- Pershing, dissatisfied at being unable to continue his research, was seduced by a fellow member of the amnesty program, G68, into breaking into the yards where former Imperial tech was being decommissioned and trying to steal mobile lab supplies from an inactive Star Destroyer.
- G68, revealed to be a former Imperial communications officer named Elia Kane, betrayed Pershing, and he was subjected to the New Republic equivalent of a Mind Flayer to have his thoughts rewritten through electroshock treatment. Elia turned the device up to dangerous levels and left him to it.
- At the end of the episode, the Armorer considered Mando redeemed, and also welcomed Bo-Katan into the Tribe as long as she keeps her helmet on.

Predictions
While there is (predictably) no official synopsis, we can nonetheless make some logical assumptions about where things may go in the future:
- Bo-Katan obviously didn’t mention the Mythosaur for a reason. I imagine she’s keeping that close to her chest because of what it might mean for the prophesied rebirth of the Mandalorian people, so expect her to cozy up to the Armorer to get a better sense of things.
- Can we assume that whoever sent those TIE interceptors to Kalevala is the same person G68 is working for?
- I don’t think Pershing is dead but he’ll probably be extremely compromised. Perhaps he’ll have to be rescued from within the New Republic. Sounds like a job for a Mandalorian.
