We discuss predictions for the Crunchyroll anime series Tomo-Chan Is a Girl! Season 1 Episode 12, and includes the release date and where to watch online.

Tomo (Rie Takahashi), Misuzu (voiced by Rina Hidaka), and Carol (Sally Amaki) got a taste of responsibility this week as they signed up for their first part-time jobs.

For Tanabe, having his crush work at his family’s restaurant was a dream come true, even if he was the only one who felt the sparks flying. While things were looking up for some characters, others, like Misuzu, struggled with their own emotions and shortcomings this week. Luckily Tomo never seems to hold a grudge, but here’s hoping she and Misuzu can work things out before they get any worse.

  • Tomo tells Misuzu she wants to get a part-time job so that she can buy Jun a birthday gift.
  • Misuzu and Carol decide that if Tomo is going to look for a job, they’ll join her.
  • Tanabe tells the girls they should work with him at his family’s ramen restaurant, and they get hired as servers for the weekend and start a few days later.
  • Jun shows up for lunch.
  • When Tomo goes to serve Jun his meal, she expects him to make fun of her, but Jun admits that he doesn’t think it looks bad.
  •  Jun shows up to walk Tomo home and tells her he visited the restaurant daily because she was there.
  • For Jun’s birthday, Tomo gets him a new watch and a cake.
  • Tomo reaches out to Misuzu for advice on taking her and Jun’s relationship to the next step. Misuzu suggests more physical contact. They decide the best route is casually pushing Jun into her arms instead.
  • When Jun arrives, Misuzu suddenly pushes him. At the last second, however, he avoids Tomo and accidentally grabs Carol’s chest to catch himself.
  • Misuzu begins to feel like something is wrong. She admits to Carol that she must not want Jun and Tomo to end up together because she makes things worse every time she tries to help.
  • Misuzu feels so bad; she is too afraid to face Tomo and does not show up to school.
  • Tomo pops up at Misuzu’s house to check on her and drop off the script for the upcoming school festival play.
  • Tomo admits she feels like Misuzu does not want to be her friend.
  • Misuzu returns to school, only to find out she has been cast as Cinderella in the upcoming school festival production, while Tomo plays the prince and Carol plays the evil stepmother.
  • Tomo admits that being cast as the prince doesn’t make her feel like a girl.
  • Seeing that Misuzu’s upset, Jun tells her she should try talking it out.
  • The episode ends with Jun helping Tomo run her lines, awkwardly playing Cinderella in Misuzu’s stead.

While Jun didn’t quite figure out his feelings for Tomo this week, thankfully, he didn’t start acting any differently toward her as I thought he might. Jun isn’t the only person struggling with his feelings, though, as Misuzu had to accept that she might be holding Tomo back more than she’s helping.

  • Since they were practicing for Cinderella this week, I imagine we will see the play itself next week. Knowing this group, something will likely go wrong during the production that will mess it up.
  • I think Tomo and Misuzu will end up hashing things out next week. I can see a heart-to-heart happening where they eventually make up.
