Is Agent Elvis for kids? We discuss how appropriate the Netflix animated series is for children and how suitable it is.

Agent Elvis is a Netflix series created by Archer mastermind Mike Arnold. The show made its streaming debut on the platform on March 17th. Many parents may ask if the series is kid-friendly and if parental guidelines should be utilized. We look to examine the issue to take the debate out of parents’ hands and answer the question for you.

What is Agent Elvis on Netflix about?

The official Netflix synopsis is:

“In the series, Elvis trades in his white jumpsuit for a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to help battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves — all while holding down his day job as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

The series has a great cast, including Matthew McConaughey as the titular character. Priscilla Presley plays herself, bringing some authenticity to the role. (Not to mention her history of comedy in the Naked Gun franchise of films).

The rest of the cast includes Kaitlin Olson as CeCe Ryder, Don Cheadle as The Commander, Johnny Knoxville as Bobby Ray, Niecy Nash-Betts as Bertie, and even Tom Kenny Agent Elvis’ chimpanzee sidekick, Scatter. The series also has numerous impressive voice-cast guest stars ranging from Gary Cole to George Clinton.

The show currently has a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on only seven reviews. However, Ready Steady Cut’s Romey Norton gave the series a positive review, saying, Agent Elvis is eye-catching and entertaining.”

Is Agent Elvis for kids?

According to Netflix’s website, the animated comedy series Agent Elvis is rated TV-MA. That would suggest the series is not deemed kid-friendly. The TV Parental Guidelines describe Agent Elvis: “This program is specifically designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may be unsuitable for children under 17. This program may contain one or more of the following: crude indecent language (L), explicit sexual activity (S), or graphic violence (V).”

The television, streaming, or network ratings are under the parental guidance of The TV Parental Guidelines. There are seven categories for the television rating system for parents. That includes categories for “all children” (TV-Y), “directed to older children” (TV-Y7), “directed to older children – fantasy violence” (TV-Y7 -FV), “general audiences” (TV-GA), “parental guidance suggested” (TV-PG), “parental guidance cautioned” (TV-14), “and mature audiences only” (TV-MA)

If parents are concerned with the age rating of the Netflix animated series, they should use the TV-MA designation that suggests the show is inappropriate for kids.

What’s the age rating for Agent Elvis?

The age rating for Agent Elvis is not designated for anyone 17 and under. That not only includes kids but a majority of teenagers as well.

That would put the Mike Arnold series on ratings par with such animated shows as Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, Archer, Rick & Morty, and even South Park.
