We discuss whether there will be a Season 2 of the Apple TV+ series Dear Edward and its renewed or canceled status.
Dear Edward is an Apple Original drama series created by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights and Parenthood), who wrote a handful of the key installments. The show is based on the hugely successful novel of the same name written by Ann Napolitano. It tells the story of Edward Adler (Colin O’Brien), the only person to survive a horrific plane crash on American soil. As the series progresses, Edward must deal with his newfound fame, the weight and responsibility of being the lone survivor, and the usual teenage high school problems that occur during adolescence.
The series is supported by a large ensemble cast of family members and friends who lost their loved ones in the crash. Most of these key players meet and bond at a grief group that the airline facilitates. Among the grievers is Edward’s auntie Lacey (Taylor Schilling), who has personal problems of her own. There is Dee Dee (Connie Britton), who lost her husband in the crash, politician Adriana (Anna Uzele), Kojo (Idris DeBrand), Linda (Amy Forsyth), and many more. These strangers interact with one another, becoming friends quickly, as they help each other to progress and to manage their grief.
Dear Edward currently holds a 7.3 score on IMDB and a 55% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics were discouraged by the show’s heightened emotional angle and the overwhelming, depressing subject matter. However, this tearjerker has won over audiences more than the critics. It has been praised for its stellar performances and emotional depiction of grief. With such a mixture of responses, will Apple TV+ renew the show for a second outing?
Will there be a season 2 of Dear Edward – renewed or canceled status
There is yet to be an announcement regarding the renewal status of Dear Edward. It is unclear whether there will be a second season of the show or not. It isn’t the most popular title for the streaming platform, but it has consistently made its way into the top 15 charts over the weeks, and the IMDB reviews are encouraging. There is a fan base here that would love to see a second batch of episodes if it was to be renewed.
I haven’t read the novel the series is based on, but it is easy to imagine that the show has used most, if not all, of the source material available. That isn’t to say that the show cannot carry on after the season one finale or when the book is complete. Jason Katims has created enough likable characters and intricate storylines to keep this show going for the foreseeable future if the audience is there for it. Apple TV+ may take time to finalize a decision on this, but it wouldn’t be out of the question for Dear Edward to renew in the coming weeks or months. That being said, they may keep this as a one-off miniseries instead. As always, we will keep you posted on any updates on the pending renewal of Dear Edward.
How many episodes are there of Dear Edward?
At this moment in time, there are only 10 episodes of Dear Edward. We expect this to remain unless Apple TV+ decides to renew for a second season.

My husband and I loved Dear Edward! Finally, a complex story line with great actors. We can’t wait for season 2. Please renew this show!
Please renew, we love this show!
I freaking hope so!!!! Connie Britton is of course amazing as usual, been watching her since before “Friday Night Lights”, but whatever she touches turns to gold! And this is the first thing I have seen Taylor Shilling in since “Orange is the new Black”
PLEASE renew…..This is a fabulous series. It’s well written, the casting and their performances are compelling. There are so many layers. I’m literally glued to the screen keeping up with this fast paced drama. The characters, while linked to the tragedy are so well developed individually and each has such a complex story revealed through their shared grief.
I would be so disappointed if they didn’t come back for season 2. I have completed fallen in love with the show and especially the characters. The actors are so good in it. Love Connie Britton as always and Taylor Shilling has proved she can do much more than just her OIB character norm. The whole cast is phenomenal and I really want to follow these characters further into their lives and see where they end up.
The writer paints such vivid pictures with their words. The characters feel real, believable. I would like to share their journey for awhile. It’s not all about cops, killing and hatred. It’s a REAL story about real people of which we have precious little. Hoping Season 2 will be a continuation we can all enjoy.
PLEASE RENEW!!! I loved it so much!
Story lines can be developed beyond what we have seen. Would love to see what happens to Kojo in Guyana, Connie Britton and her daughter, Edward and Shay’s friendship, on and on!
Please renew. Such a great show!
It was great, please renew
I absolutely loved Dear Edward and hope and look forward to,a season 2 – Please , Please !!!
My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed Dear Edward. It makes you smile and it makes you laugh….really evokes all of the emotions of our humanity. After episode 10 of season 1, how can there NOT be a season 2?
FAbulous story, emotional, funny, real characters. PLEASE carry on!!!!!
My new favorite show
This is one of my favorite series. The development of each character and their handling of their grief is very helpful for anyone dealing with the list of a love one. Please have at least one more season. Please do not leave us hanging
I just finished it and it touched me in a way that few series have. It makes you grateful for your relationships and the people in your life. I did not read the book but I will now. The acting is very good and the quirkiness of the characters and all their foibles are so engaging. I loved Friday Night Lights and this is just as good. I really hope there is at least another season!
The first 2 episodes were very good – the chemistry between the two brothers was dynamic. Then it went downhill very quickly (Very WOKE) shoving the LGPQLMNOP agenda and race down our throats. Nope, don’t like Hollywood, very unrealistic. It also turned into something different than the original conceptual. They should have changed the title to “Dear Everyone But Edward”. The letters were left out and much of the brother’s relationship were forgotten. So I would be very surprised if it was renewed.
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous show! Complex story. Great characters.. I can only hope it continues. PLEASE RENEW !!!
Loved this so much. Desperate to see a second series!
Love this show so much. Please renew!
Love this show! Please renew!!
This show is SO GOOD!!!! The acting is off the charts and the characters are well-developed that you become so invested in each of their stories. Please keep making new episodes as there are not enough good shows like this on tv today.
My husband and I weren’t sure …. But being retired and staying up later than normal decided to binge watch it … ALL I CAN SAY IS .. SEASON 2 please !!!! For the LOVE of great story writing and amazing acting … ohhh and for your now HUGE followers.. PLEASE PLEASE make a season 2 ….. AND SOON!!! you won’t regret it !!!
Please please please have a second season. The storyline, characters and acting was superb.
Please add more seasons. I fell for the cast the first episode and the writing and the whole thing. It was absolutely great. And I was a huge fan of both Friday Night Lights and Parenthood so I was excited to hear these were other successes behind this one…
Im so incredibly sick of the crap being produced that is full of violence, or same old stuff; even though it was tough to see the plane scene the rest has been so very well done. My household will be watching for session two.
