Just when it seemed things couldn’t get any worse for Olmar (voiced by Yu Hayashi) after making a fool of himself in King Canute’s (voiced by Kensho Ono) presence, he was forced to defend his honor in a battle he was sure to lose.
For once, though, winning the fight had worse consequences than losing, especially when Thorgil (voiced by Taiten Kusunoki) figured out this was a ploy to set up his family.
Now Ketil (voiced by Hideaki Tezuka) and his sons are on the run, having traded Thorfinn’s (Yuto Uemura) life in exchange for aid from Leif (Yoji Ueda); it’s only a matter of time before Canute shows up to claim the farm as he intended.
- Canute’s men laugh at Olmar’s foolishness and failed attempt to join Canute’s army as one of his thegns.
- Olmar takes up his sword against Brodd and demands a fight.
- Brodd agrees to fight Olmar alone.
- After some encouragement from Thorgil, Olmar charges toward Brodd.
- A hooded man in the crowd flicks a coin into Brodd’s eye at the last second, allowing Olmar to get the upper and stab Brodd through the neck.
- Canute’s messengers come, and Thorgil explains they were engaging in a duel.
- Canute’s messengers explain that dueling is illegal as they try to arrest Thorgil, Ketil, and Olmar.
- Thorgil attacks and kills all but one messenger.
- Thorgil asks the messenger why they made Olmar win and tries to trick them.
- The messenger tells Thorgil they set Olmar up to arrest Ketil on Wulf’s orders.
- Ketil and his sons escape.
- Canute says he still plans to seize all of Ketil’s farmlands and that they will leave in three days after Floki arrives to help them.
- As Leif sails, he turns back to announce that it is OK for everyone to come out.
- Thorgil and Olmar emerge from barrels, while Ketil refuses to come out of his.
- Thorgil thanks Leif for helping, but Leif reminds them that he only offered assistance in exchange for Thorfinn.
Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 13 Release Date and Time
Episode 13 will be released on both Netflix and Crunchyroll on Monday, April 3rd, 2023. The release time is 11:30 a.m E.T. Episode 13 is titled “Dark Clouds” and will have a run time of approximately 23 minutes.

Predictions
While Leif hasn’t entirely made it to Thorfinn yet, considering now he’s en route; it’s only a matter of time before the two are reunited. Whether or not that happens next week, we’ll have to see because, judging by the previews, viewers may still have to wait for a few episodes before that happens.
- Judging by the previews, I have a feeling that Ketil’s father will die before he makes it back. We know Sverkel is old, and considering how sick he looks, I doubt he has much time.
- I see Leif’s ship making it to Thorfinn by the end of the episode, probably with just enough time for Thorfinn to lay eyes on him but not enough for their full reunion.
