Netflix has a comedy-drama starring actor and comedian Celeste Barber. The show is based on the book Wellmania: Misadventures in the Search for Wellness by Brigid Delaney. The Australian Netflix show was co-created by Delaney and Benjamin Law.
In the series, we follow the character Liv Healy, played by Barber, a food blogger receiving a possible life-changing opportunity. She is picked to be a judge in a reality show.
However, when she learns that her over-the-top lifestyle choices have left her less than healthy, possibly canceling her chance at stardom, she has to take a long look at her health, leading her to try everything she possibly can to turn her general well-being around. The cures she embarks on seem to be worse than the disease.

Sydney, Australia
The show takes place in Sydney, so it was a no-brainer to film most of the show there. Plenty of locations are used, but you might notice Sydney’s Gadigal Country of the Eora Nation as one of the prime locales.
As well as this, you can see scenes filmed at Bronte Beach. A look at Instagram will reveal some nice shots of some locations for the filming. Actor Lachlan Buchanan @lachiebuch has a few snaps of filming on his page.
New York City, New York
New York City is an important location for the action of Wellmania, and the crew had to get some filming done there too. You will be able to see the usual iconic landmarks such as the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and Central Park.
Some drone shots were also used for establishing shots too. New York is so identifiable in film and TV that it has been used so often, but it is often costly to film there, leading to other locations being used as a substitute.
Glasgow in Scotland has been utilized as a cheaper filming replacement for movies, one of the latest being the East End of Glasgow doubling for New York for the new Indiana Jones film.
Boston, Massachusetts
Not so well known, but just as evocative to look at, are the scenes filmed in Boston for the show. Once again, some ariel drone shots of the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge on I-93, Boston. Eagle-eyed Bostonians will also notice Franklin Park, Boston Common, and the Boston Public Garden.
Boston has a long association with filmmaking, and in 2023 they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their independent film festival. As far as filming incentives go, Boston offers some great deals.
It seems that any film or television production that spends more than $50,000 in The Bay State is eligible for a 25% production credit, a 25% payroll credit, and a sales tax exemption, making it very attractive for the industry to film there.
