We discuss predictions for the Apple TV+ series The Big Door Prize Season 1 Episode 5, including the release date and where to watch online.

In the latest installment of The Big Door Prize, titled “Father Reuben,” the titular priest becomes the focal point as the writers uncover more of his traumatic past. Meanwhile, a wedding is an epicenter for much drama as we explore more of the kooky characters of Deerfield.

It’s another consistent episode that continues the show’s mix of quirky humor and ambitious storytelling, although the formula is starting to drag a little now. Here’s what happened in The Big Door Prize Season 1 Episode 4:

  • Reuben visits Trina, who is struggling after the death of her boyfriend Kolton. She is quite rude towards the priest and quickly changes the subject, showing Reuben a picture of himself on the front page of the local newspaper.
  • Dusty tries spicy food and gets a tattoo to impress Cass. His wife is concerned by this odd behavior, though. He says that he is only trying to be romantic and to surprise her. Cass admits that she is over puffins. Dusty starts to bin all the puffin-related items in protest. Dusty is annoyed that everyone is going crazy because of the Morpho machine, but he is too.
  • Principal Pat and Farid Malik get married at Giorgio’s Italian restaurant. Father Reuben is the officiator. Dusty worries that they are rushing into things. Cass defends them, saying that they got married at 20 years old.
  • Mayor Izzy argues with her ex-wife Martha, then proceeds to perform a rather strange and embarrassing dance solo. Cass tries to lighten the mood and joins in, dancing with a flower girl. Izzy is angered by Cass’ gesture, though, and argues with her daughter, blaming her for ruining her marriage.
  • Trina and Jacob talk; they don’t want their relationship to be a secret anymore.
  • Dusty senses Cass is upset and performs his own dance solo to cheer her up. It works a treat, and they dance together. Giorgio is jealous of Dusty, though.
  • After the party, Reuben talks with Hana. They discuss the Morpho machine. She refuses to use it. Reuben thinks people see it as a sign, like God. Reuben admits that he was once married, but his wife died of a rare disease. This turned Reuben into a drunk. He was told to become a priest and moved to Deerfield, where he turned his life around. But then the Morpho machine changed all that again.
  • Reuben believes his Morpho card means a parent, not a priest. He chose the wrong path. Reuben and Hana slow dance together.
  • Dusty and Cass makeup, and she takes all the puffin items out of the bin.
  • Trina and Jacob have a secret picnic together.

Predictions

  • I’ll take a wild guess and propose that the next episode focuses on Dusty and Cass’ daughter, Trina. She is still grieving the death of her boyfriend Kolton, but at the same time is secretly dating Kolton’s identical twin brother Jacob. Will they make their relationship official?
  • If they go public with their relationship then they will be faced with a lot of criticism. The students will eventually come around to the idea, but Dusty and Cass will be mortified.
  • Trina will ask Father Reuben for advice on this monumental decision.
  • The citizens of Deerfield will continue to make rash, life-changing decisions influenced by their Morpho cards. This will lead to further chaos and criminal activity.
