This article discusses the possibility of The Crossover Season 2 on Disney+ and the show’s renewed or canceled status.

The Disney+ series The Crossover, from LeBron James’ SpringHill production company, was adapted from the novel-in-verse by Kwame Alexander, who adapted it for television alongside Damani Johnson.

While it’s similar to many other coming-of-age shows revolving around sport in general and basketball in particular, perhaps especially Apple TV+’s Swagger, it has enough good ideas and unique elements to form its own identity.

Here’s a quote from our review:

The lives of the Bell brothers revolve around basketball like the rock has its own gravitational pull. Both are standout players. Both have long imagined a path to the NBA and superstardom, but neither has bothered to ask the other if that’s what they really want. As the pressures of growing up begin to pull them both in different directions – a crush one way, high school the other – they’re forced to interrogate their real passions and values.

And here’s everything we know about the show’s future:

Will there be a Season 2 of The Crossover on Disney+?

Renewed or canceled status: TBC

At the time of writing, we have no official news about the future of The Crossover.

Since the show is adapted from beloved source material and tells a relatively complete story it’s easy to imagine it as a limited series. The ending of The Crossover does leave a few loose ends but mostly provides a satisfying and meaningful conclusion.

The fact that the show’s target demographic skews a little younger may help its chances. It’s pitched very directly at a certain age of kids who’re beginning to explore how sport can help to answer many more important questions about the rest of their lives, so enough interest from that kind of audience may compel Disney to explore the characters a little more.

However, our official prediction is that The Crossover will not be renewed for a second season. It works as a single story and there’s little reason to continue it any further.

As usual, though, we’ll be sure to update this page whenever we learn more.

My husband and I love, love this show. I agree with the other commentator. There are loose ends that need to be tied up. However I loved the way it ends to get you ready for season 2. I love seeing for a change, two black boys going through real life and how they deal with their emotions. Lebron has a hand in this and not many things of his I support. But I support this, please renew and take your time putting the pieces together and have it all make sense in the end! This show us real life.

The Crossover was a pleasant story. The family was very positive. There were challenges in their life, but they stuck together. A true family love story. Hope there is a season 2.

I would just like to add that there’s a lot more storytelling left if someone just write it I love the season 1 but it just left wanting more.

We really need a season 2, we need to know what happened next to the Bell brothers other than they are on different teams. I want to know why and how it happened.
