The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season Two steps up the stakes significantly with its premiere, thrusting Chise (Atsumi Tanezaki) into an awkward new situation.
While the concept of school is not new to her, Chise’s never had the easiest time fitting in or adjusting. Even if she is there mostly as an experiment, hopefully, Chise can still learn enough about magic to help her control her powers in the future.
- Despite Elias’ obvious disinterest in the subject, Adolf asks Chise to attend the college for sorcerers.
- Adolf explains that as a researcher, he wants Chise to attend college because the chance to study her is too good to pass up with her abilities and curses.
- Chise tells Elias she wants to attend college to find ways to help people that do not involve sacrificing herself.
- Elias reluctantly agrees and decides to attend college with her.
- Chise is registered as a special student, while Elias is given a job as a visiting instructor in the college’s magic department.
- Chise meets Alexandra Heath, the wizard in charge of the medical room whose body fused with a caterpillar’s.
- Alexandra gives Chise her first medical exam, detailing all of her curses, previous injuries, etc.
- While exploring the dorms, Chise is told to pick one of the feline matrons for her room. Chise chooses Rose Lyn to be her dorm matron, as she represents freedom.
- Chise enters her dorm for the first time to meet her roommate, Lucy Webster.
- The episode ends with a random female student collapsing in Chise’s arms as she searches for the college’s training room.

Predictions
With Chise and Elias in an entirely new setting, things are starting off very differently from season one. This time around, it seems Chise may have the chance to make friends her own age while actually learning how to use her magic without hurting herself. It should make for a very entertaining arc if done well.
- In the preview, it looks like Chise begins attending her classes immediately. I have a feeling it may be hard for her to make friends, especially when the other students find out she is both cursed and a Sleigh Beggy.
- In the preview, Elias appears to catch Chise walking down the hall with a male student. I could see this leading to him being jealous like he was of Stella in season one.
